Another Domino Falls,...

"We do big things," such as shred this monstrosity like a goat in the Amazon!

A U.S. district judge on Monday threw out the nation's health care law, declaring it unconstitutional because it violates the Commerce Clause and surely reviving a feud among competing philosophies about the role of government.

Judge Roger Vinson, in Pensacola, Fla., ruled that as a result of the unconstitutionality of the "individual mandate" that requires people to buy insurance, the entire law must be declared void.

"I must reluctantly conclude that Congress exceeded the bounds of its authority in passing the act with the individual mandate. That is not to say, of course, that Congress is without power to address the problems and inequities in our health care system. The health care market is more than one-sixth of the national economy, and without doubt Congress has the power to reform and regulate this market. That has not been disputed in this case. The principal dispute
has been about how Congress chose to exercise that power here," Vinson wrote.

No,..the BitterAmerican isn't closing up shop! I won't quit blogging until the cries of the liberal scum of America become nothing more than an annoying mouse-like squeak!

No, gentle readers, as you view this post, I'll be in some office deep in the heart of Chester County, aggravating my arthritis as I put myself into debt for the next 30 years and relocate from "Detroit East," er,..I mean, Philadelphia into the quiet hills of Northern Chester County.

Posting may be spotty for the next few days as I get both internet access and my computer relocated.

Keep on reading and commenting, (oh, yeah,....not many of you do that, huh?)....I'll be back in a few days!

Sometimes Too Big is Too Much

A story right up Wyatt's alley:

A German porn star went into a coma and died after undergoing her sixth breast enlargement.

Carolin Berger, who used the stage name "Cora" in adult films, underwent the cosmetic surgery in an attempt to boost her popularity, the Daily Mail reported today.

The 23-year-old blond beauty was in a medically induced coma for nine days before dying Thursday from complications following a surgery to increase her chest size from 34F to 34G.

Reports indicate she suffered two heart attacks after going under the knife for the cosmetic surgery in a Hamburg clinic. Her family was told she went without oxygen for 15 minutes during the procedure.

The Countdown(s) Begin,....

First, gentle readers, sometime during the next few days, The BitterAmerican will greet its 50000th visitor.  I don't have some special prize for that person, other than hoping it isn't another image search for "Obama Smoking."  I mean, WTF, people???

Second, in just one week, the BitterAmerican will bid adieu to Sillydelphia and head for the hills of Northern Chester County.  More on that later this week.

Are We Living in the Golden Age of the Crimson Tide?

First, liberal scum were flushed from Congress, now we see huge cracks in the walls of the Fourth Estate!

MSNBC host Keith Olbermann announced Friday that he is leaving the network and has taped his last "Countdown" show.

MSNBC issued a statement that it had ended its contract with the controversial host, with no further explanation. Olbermann hosted the network's most popular show, but his combative liberal opinions often made him a target of critics.

Olbermann did not explain why he was leaving.

"MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC's success and we wish him well in his future endeavors," the network said. (That's corporate-speak for "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!")

A spokesman said Phil Griffin, MSNBC's president, would not comment on Olbermann's exit. (That's corporate-speak for "our lawyers had to explain 'libel' to me one time too many.")

Finally, SOMEONE Who's NOT Blaming Bush!

Tony Blair has said he "regrets deeply and profoundly the loss of life" during and after the 2003 Iraq war.

The ex-PM said his refusal to express regret for the decisions that led to war at his first appearance before the committee had been misinterpreted.

But his words were met with cries of "too late" from the public gallery.

Mr Blair also urged the West to stop apologising for its actions and warned of the threat from Iran, during a four-hour grilling by the inquiry.

Asked whether what had happened in Iraq had made the risk from Iran and other countries developing nuclear weapons worse, rather than better, he said: "I don't think so."

"And this is not because we have done something. At some point - and I say this to you with all the passion I possibly can - the West has got to get out of what I think is this wretched policy, or posture, of apology for believing that we are causing what the Iranians are doing, or what these extremists are doing. The fact is we are not.

"The fact is they are doing it because they disagree fundamentally with our way of life and they will carry on doing it unless they are met with the requisite determination and, if necessary, force."

We Can Only "Hope" for "Change" in 2012,....

| FOXBusiness

President Hu Jintao visits the United States as leader of an industrial juggernaut and heir apparent to American global economic leadership.

China is growing at a breakneck pace, its exporters capturing a lion’s share of global markets in strategic industries, and its citizens enjoy rising prosperity and economic security. The United States, meanwhile, endures mediocre growth, its businesses fleeing for Asia and Russia, and its citizens live with falling wages and uncertain futures.

This is not how the historic struggle between socialism and capitalism was to end, but it is how President Obama willed it. Abroad, the President refuses to defend American capitalism, and at home, he recklessly abuses private enterprise.

International competition between China and the United States is governed by rules — spelled out by the World Trade Organization and other agreements. President Obama has stood idle while China violates the letter and spirit of those rules to boost exports, restricts imports and enjoy steroidal growth that handicaps U.S.-based businesses and destroys American jobs.

(snip)

Krugman, Bergsten and I have suggested strategies — an import tax, counter invention in currency markets by the Treasury and a tax conversion of dollars into yuan.

Last fall at the UN, President Obama exclaimed if China does not move the United States can act unilaterally. Hu called Obama’s bluff, and the President flinched.

No surprise — China won’t let markets determine the value of the yuan anytime soon.

(snip)

The President could impose procurement requirements on turbines, solar panels and other products purchased with government money, and impose countervailing duties on Chinese subsidies, but he has been too busy handicapping U.S. private enterprise to be bothered.

The President obsesses endlessly about increasing social spending and federal taxes, and imposing regulations that raise the cost of doing business — for example, new health-care taxes and reforms, new ineffective but burdensome bank regulations, and new permitting rules shutting down U.S. oil and gas development.

At least the Romans could take solace — they did not elect Nero. Americans chose Barack Obama to heap kerosene on anyone seeking a profit.

Missing Bush yet???

Camden: Half as Safe and Twice as Stupid,......

You know you've f***ed up when your actions make the news all the way up in Cape Cod!!

CAMDEN, NJ -- In a solemn display, laid-off firefighters and police officers lined up Tuesday to turn in their helmets and badges - symbols of deep budget cuts that were destined to further erode the quality of life in one of the nation's most impoverished and crime-ridden cities.

Nearly half the Camden police force, including civilians, and about one-third of its firefighters lost their jobs as city leaders sought to balance the budget amid falling tax revenue and diminishing aid from the state.

On the sidewalk outside City Hall, 82 police officers lined up their work boots to show how many officers would be taken off the Camden streets, where many neighborhoods have rampant drug dealing and violence.

As officers staged the display, a woman riding by in a car yelled out the window that she was worried about the safety of her granddaughter, who catches a school bus before dawn, and her grandson, who doesn't get out of basketball practice until after dark.

"I'm 52 years old and scared to death," she said. The woman wouldn't give her name, saying she didn't want to be a target.

What to Do on MLK Day,...

By Michael Matza

INQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Linking their Monday afternoon demonstration to the human-rights theme of Martin Luther King Day, pro-immigrant groups are protesting the pending deportation of four Cambodian men.

The four were born in Cambodia or Southeast Asian refugee camps after fleeing the depradations of the Khmer Rouge and the Pol Pot regime. They were admitted legally to the United States about 20 years ago with their parents as refugees.

As youths and young adults they committed aggravated assaults and other crimes. They were convicted, served time in prison and now face expulsion. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested them last in September.

Authorities say they are "criminal aliens" and by law must be removed. Their defenders say they are rehabilitated and deserve another chance to remain in America.

Following their detention, their supporters formed a group called the One Love Movement to Keep Families Together.

As opposed to this:

The main event for the 16th Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service took place in the Armory at Girard College where hundreds of volunteers gathered to refurbish computers, put together training packets, and help introduce families and students to the Internet.

"The computer is your passport, not only to the future but to knowing what's going around you," said Mayor Nutter who volunteered nervously to refurbish a computer. "Whatever computer I'm working on I want to make sure someone who knows what they're doing looks at it afterward."

The Philadelphia King Day of Service is again the largest King Day event in the nation and comes on the 25th anniversary of the King federal holiday.

You see, gentle readers, Dr. King, if memory serves me right, was an ACTIVIST, not a cheap computer salesman!  Owning a computer and having internet access are no more civil rights than having cable access!  And guilting a bunch of liberal, white suburbanites to come into Philadelphia to do it does nothing to honor Dr. King's lifetime of accomplishments!

Kevin Kolb, Now We Know How You Feel,....

After two seasons as defensive coordinator, the Eagles have fired Sean McDermott, the team confirmed.

A replacement has not yet been named, according to an Eagles source.

McDermott's firing comes just five days after head coach Andy Reid said that McDermott would be back next season. The 36-year-old's defense had regressed in nearly every statistical category this past season. Despite such alarming numbers Reid gave McDermott, who had worked his way up from the bottom, a vote of confidence on Monday.

“You’re dealing with a guy that’s a tremendous worker and is a very smart individual,” Reid said a day after the Eagles’ season came to an end with a 21-16 playoff loss to the Packers. “And so I look at it a little bit different than what you do in that I’ve seen him work with young guys, I’ve seen him work through injuries, I’ve seen him stay positive through those situations and still put us in a position to win football games.”

Apparently, that was not enough to keep his job. Reid actually told McDermott that he was going in another direction on Thursday, a league source said.

Reid is away this weekend and will not have a comment, a team spokesman said.

Attempts to reach McDermott have been unsuccessful.

No Matter How You Slice It, There's Still Some EWWW Factor Here,....

Live from Berks County!

So, still-hot 80s model Stephanie Seymour goes on a reconciliation vacation with her almost-divorced husband and their children.  Papparazzi stalking ensues and THIS is the result:

Immediately, "incest rumors" follow.  The "Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free" Card?  Her 18 year-old son is "openly gay."

"Openly gay," my,..ummm,....nevermind!  Now, I'm no prude, but,..even if your mom climbs out of the sea like Calypso and throws her bikini'd body into your arms, sneaking a cheap feel of her hooters is a little sick!  What's the next excuse going to be, they're silicone so he's not really grabbing "her" hooters??

Of course, I wouldn't mind Stephanie adopting me, flying the whole "family" to St. Barth's and throwing her soaking-wet gorgeousness in my open arms, either!!

How to Prevent College Bowl BS,....

Once again, America has been treated to the annual Bread & Circuses farce that is called the BS,..BCS Bowl. (BTW - Congrats to the TCU Horned Frogs for being the best, and undefeated, team that isn't part of the "cool colleges clique!")

Time to inject a little common sense into this system (I know, if common sense existed in our university system, little blonde Villanova co-eds wouldn't show up at Alumni Hall for a January basketball game in miniskirts, flip-flops and hooded sweatshirts, bitching to their BFFs about how cold they are and St. Joseph students wouldn't cross City Avenue against the red light AND with two SEPTA buses barrelling down at them at warp speed!) But I digress,...

First, a note to GoDaddy.Com, Emerald Almonds and the San Diego County Credit Union: if you want to sponsor a bowl game, OUTBID the big boys instead of creating some lame-ass match-up of two 6-6 wannabees! Its called CAPITALISM. I think they still teach that in our universities!!  Years ago, 6-6 got a you a pat on the back and a "do better next year" from the alumni.

Second, let's give ALL of the Division 1-A conferences a chance. With the Big Ten becoming the Big Twelve and the Big Twelve becoming,...um,...yeah, whatever,... and the "Pacific" 10 being active in Colorado and Utah ( WTF??), the NCAA needs to make it a round, even number. And if Notre Dame, Army and Navy want to continue to play, swallow your pride, suck it up (oops, sorry, Army and Navy, DADT went away) and join a conference.

Third, keep the current 12-game schedule, but allow for a bye or two so come "playoff" time, these teams haven't been idle for 30+ days. Also, mandate a 2:1 rule - no more than 2/3 of the season's games shall be played within your conference and the balance must be played against at least two other conferences (i.e. Penn State - 8 Big Ten, plus 2 MAC, plus 2 Conference USA). Conference playoffs should continue to be at the discretion of the conferences.

Fourth, go back to the old New Year's Day bowls and automatic qualifiers (Rose Bowl = PAC 10 vs Big Ten, Orange Bowl = ACC vs Big XII, Sugar Bowl = SEC vs ??, Cotton Bowl = ?? vs ??) and play them during New Year's week. Assuming 12 conferences, pick two more high-profile bowls, like Arizona's Fiesta Bowl and another on the East Coast for balance. This will leave 6 winners. Rank them by strength of schedule, record, amount of alumni bribe, whatever, but give 1 and 2 a bye and let 3-6 and 4-5 duke it out (sounds like the NFL, huh??). A few weeks later, you'll have a real champion!

Some notes of interest: Football is played on GREEN grass or artificial turf.  If you want to waste money on a Blue AstroTurf field like Boise State or bright red, like East Washington State, go start your own WWE-sponsored league.

And if your gonna b***h about competitiveness amongst the conferences, just look at how Roger Goodell is crowing about 7-9 Seattle taking out reigning Super Bowl Champs New Orleans.

**THAT'S MY OPINION AND YOU'RE ENTITLED TO IT!!**

One of Our Greatest is Silenced,.....

PHILADELPHIA -- Richard "Dick" Winters, the Easy Company commander whose World War II exploits were made famous by the book and television miniseries "Band of Brothers," died last week in central Pennsylvania. He was 92.

Winters died following a several-year battle with Parkinson's disease, longtime family friend William Jackson said Monday.

An intensely private and humble man, Winters had asked that news of his death be withheld until after his funeral, Jackson said. Winters lived in Hershey, Pa., but died in suburban Palmyra.

The men Winters led expressed their admiration for their company commander after learning of his death.

William Guarnere, 88, said what he remembers about Winters was "great leadership."

When he said 'Let's go,' he was right in the front," Guarnere, who was called "Wild Bill" by his comrades, said Sunday night from his South Philadelphia home. "He was never in the back. A leader personified."

Another member of the unit living in Philadelphia, Edward Heffron, 87, said thinking about Winters brought a tear to his eye.

"He was one hell of a guy, one of the greatest soldiers I was ever under," said Heffron, who had the nickname "Babe" in the company. "He was a wonderful officer, a wonderful leader. He had what you needed, guts and brains. He took care of his men, that's very important."

Winters was born Jan. 21, 1918 and studied economics at Franklin & Marshall College before enlisting, according to a biography on the Penn State website.

Winters became the leader of Company E, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne Division on D-Day, after the death of the company commander during the invasion of Normandy.

During that invasion, Winters led 13 of his men in destroying an enemy battery and obtained a detailed map of German defenses along Utah Beach. In September 1944, he led 20 men in a successful attack on a German force of 200 soldiers

112 Too Much Heat in His Kitchen?

Robert Gibbs confirms that he's part of the long-rumored White House shakeup today, telling the New York Times that he'll leave the job in early February to become a political adviser. He's also looking to pick up a little loot on the speaking circuit. A successor is expected to be named within two weeks; aides tell the Times that President Obama is finalizing his staff changes today.

“Stepping back will take some adjusting,” said Gibbs. “But at the same time, I have a feeling that I will keep myself quite busy, not just with speaking, but continuing to help the president.” Says Obama of Gibbs: “He’s had a six-year stretch now where basically he’s been going 24/7 with relatively modest pay. I think it’s natural for someone like Robert to want to step back for a second to reflect, retool and that, as a consequence, brings about both challenges and opportunities for the White House.”

My New Year's Resolutions,....

Well, not exactly mine, but the one I wish some people would actually aspire to,...

Andy Reid - I will take classes on clock management and human resources in the off-season.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman - I will memorize the book "The Art of the Deal" from cover to cover.

Fox 29 Anchor Mike Jerrick - I will behave myself and stop being a poster child for sexual harassment in the workplace.

Fox 29 Reporter Jennaphr Fredricks - I will stop being the poster child for dumb blondes everywhere.

Fox 29 Meteorologist Sally Ann Mosey - I will more closely read the exit clause on my contract.

Nancy Pelosi - since I'll have nothing to do for two years, I'll take up horticulture and learn the different between grass and AstroTurf.

Rachel Madcow - I will finally realize that sexually-ambiguous fashion went out when the Eurythmics broke up.

Fat Eddie Rendell - I will attend a REAL diet program, instead of sticking my foot in my mouth as a substitute for another free hoagie.
