Dumb-o-crats Still Can't Figure It Out?

From MSMSNBC:

The progressive Democratic group MoveOn.org issued a statement Thursday afternoon warning of a potential "betrayal of everything Democrats stand for.”

“Reports that the White House is negotiating a secret debt deal directly with House Republicans that could include deep cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security with limited or no immediate revenue increases are deeply troubling," the group's executive director Justin Rubin said. “The Democratic base did not work night and day to elect Democrats so that they could cave to Tea Party extremists...."

No, jackass - that's what the voters forced you to do back in November 2010!!  Keep it up, bankrupt America, and you'll "cave" to more Tea Partiers in November 2012, too!

"Vile and Disgusting"

And coming from the leader of the DNC,...pretty much sums up the party's profile!

| FoxNews.com

WASHINGTON -- Republican Rep. Allen West of Florida is standing by an incendiary email he sent to a Democratic colleague after she criticized him in a speech on the House floor.
"I think it's important to stake my ground," West told Fox News when asked about his email to Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. "It was about enough is enough, and it's my right to say that. She is the one elevating this."

In her remarks on the House floor, Wasserman Schultz had said: "The gentleman from Florida, who represents thousands of Medicare beneficiaries, as do I, is supportive of this plan that would increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries. Unbelievable from a member from south Florida."
She was alluding to a GOP-backed bill to reduce the debt and amend the Constitution to require a balanced federal budget. The House later approved the bill 234-190, but it is unlikely to pass the Democratic Senate.
West, who is in his first term, wasn't shy about his online outburst. He sent his email to numerous lawmakers, as well as Wasserman Schultz and other congressional leaders. The subject line of the email: "Unprofessional and Inappropriate Sophomoric Behavior from Wasserman Schultz."
The e-mail said: "Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige. You are the most vile, unprofessional and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up."

Its Why We're Called REPUBLICans,...

Theodore Roosevelt called it:

"The Roman Republic fell, not because of the ambition of Caesar or Augustus, but because it had already long ceased to be in any real sense a republic at all. When the sturdy Roman plebeian, who lived by his own labor, who voted without reward according to his own convictions, and who with his fellows formed in war the terrible Roman legion, had been changed into an idle creature who craved nothing in life save the gratification of a thirst for vapid excitement, who was fed by the state, and who directly or indirectly sold his vote to the highest bidder, then the end of the republic was at hand, and nothing could save it. The laws were the same as they had been, but the people behind the laws had changed, and so the laws counted for nothing."

Take Heed, Mayor Nutter!!

MIAMI -- Mayor Carlos Alvarez was ousted Tuesday by voters angry over a property tax rate increase and salary raise for county employees in a county struggling to recover from the recession.

With 100 percent of precinct votes counted, 88 percent voted to oust the mayor, making Miami-Dade the most populous area, with more than 2.5 million people, ever to recall a local official. Just 12 percent of the 204,500 who cast ballots were in favor of allowing Alvarez to finish his second term, which ends in 2012.

Gentle readers,
I may no longer be a resident of Philadelphia, but I know this: as Philadelphia goes, so goes the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania!

Citizens of Philadelphia shouldn't have to stand for a government that takes the revenues from our world-class hospitals and universities, our packed-to-the-rafters sports complexes (both collegiate and professional), a top-notch restaurant trade and our status as a travel destination and, in return, give us a police department rife with corruption (apologies to Wyatt Earp), a fire department so underfunded it's practically a part-time service and a public school system more interested in providing social services and maintaining the union status quo than graduating functioning members of society!

Two years ago, Americans overwhlemingly voted for "Hope & Change" in this country. Well, if we want to have any "hope" that Philadelphia won't be the next Detroit, we need to "change" how things are done in this city! And it starts at the top! Reject the same ol' same ol' and vote the Democrats and their 50+ years of corruption out of power once and for all!

We Can Only "Hope" for "Change" in 2012,....

| FOXBusiness

President Hu Jintao visits the United States as leader of an industrial juggernaut and heir apparent to American global economic leadership.

China is growing at a breakneck pace, its exporters capturing a lion’s share of global markets in strategic industries, and its citizens enjoy rising prosperity and economic security. The United States, meanwhile, endures mediocre growth, its businesses fleeing for Asia and Russia, and its citizens live with falling wages and uncertain futures.

This is not how the historic struggle between socialism and capitalism was to end, but it is how President Obama willed it. Abroad, the President refuses to defend American capitalism, and at home, he recklessly abuses private enterprise.

International competition between China and the United States is governed by rules — spelled out by the World Trade Organization and other agreements. President Obama has stood idle while China violates the letter and spirit of those rules to boost exports, restricts imports and enjoy steroidal growth that handicaps U.S.-based businesses and destroys American jobs.

(snip)

Krugman, Bergsten and I have suggested strategies — an import tax, counter invention in currency markets by the Treasury and a tax conversion of dollars into yuan.

Last fall at the UN, President Obama exclaimed if China does not move the United States can act unilaterally. Hu called Obama’s bluff, and the President flinched.

No surprise — China won’t let markets determine the value of the yuan anytime soon.

(snip)

The President could impose procurement requirements on turbines, solar panels and other products purchased with government money, and impose countervailing duties on Chinese subsidies, but he has been too busy handicapping U.S. private enterprise to be bothered.

The President obsesses endlessly about increasing social spending and federal taxes, and imposing regulations that raise the cost of doing business — for example, new health-care taxes and reforms, new ineffective but burdensome bank regulations, and new permitting rules shutting down U.S. oil and gas development.

At least the Romans could take solace — they did not elect Nero. Americans chose Barack Obama to heap kerosene on anyone seeking a profit.

Missing Bush yet???

The Clintons Continued March Towards Irrelevancy,....

Things continue to get nice and contentious in the Chicago mayor's race: Today, mayoral hopeful Carol Moseley Braun added her own stern warning to Bill Clinton not to campaign for his old pal Rahm Emanuel. The former senator says Clinton will risk his relations with the black community if he follows through on plans to help Emanuel ahead of the February vote, reports Lynn Sweet at the Chicago Sun-Times.

"Bill Clinton is an outsider parachuting in to support another outsider," said Braun. "He should stay home and avoid the cold." Her statement follows that of fellow black candidate Rep. Danny Davis, who yesterday said Clinton's ties with African Americans will be "fractured and perhaps even broken" if he steps in, notes the AP. The reason for the quick responses: Blacks make up 35% of the city's population, and both candidates need a strong showing against heavily favored Emanuel.

Rahm Emanuel an "outsider?"  Whodathunkit?

DREAM?? More Like National Nightmare,...

WASHINGTON -- Less than 24 hours after the House carved out a path to legalization for hundreds of thousands of foreign-born youngsters brought to this country illegally, their hopes of legal status are likely to be dashed in the Senate.

Democrats face an uphill climb to gather the 60 votes needed in a vote expected Thursday to advance the so-called DREAM Act over opposition by most Republicans and a handful of their own members.

The House passed the legislation Wednesday night after Democratic leaders painstakingly lined up the votes to push it through.

(snip)

Critics denounce the bill as a backdoor amnesty grant that would encourage more foreigners to sneak into the United States in hopes of eventually being legalized as well.

(snip)

The legislation would give hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants brought to the United States before the age of 16, and who have been here for five years and graduated from high school or gained an equivalency degree, a chance to gain legal status if they joined the military or attended college.

Great!  Let's give every nation that has an axe to grind against us an open opportunity to create another Fort Hood incident!!

Democrats and Demagogues,....

As you can tell from yesterday's post, I've been otherwise occupied and therefore I haven't kept up with my favorite comic book, the Philadelphia Weakly, so I apparently missed another puff (-puff-pass) piece on Mayor Michael "Squidward" Nutter.

So, imagine reading the following op-ed reply from one of the PW's Mensa members: "Not voting for Nutter is pretty much a vote for the Republican. Do you think a Republican is going to do any better? (Take a look at the governor of New Jersey.)"

Yeah,...because the recent track record of the urban/Democrat/labor union gestalt is such a winner!

Let's look at that now-Republican led State of New Jersey: Under DEMOCRAT Governor Jon Corzine, the Jersey populace was taxed until stones bled! And of course REPUBLICAN Governor Chris Christie is so unpopular with the media. He dared,..DARED to flip a labor union, namely the NJSEA, the bird for turning out more McDonald's burger flippers than college-primed leaders.

And how about DEMOCRAT-led Newark, NJ? One-half of the police force laid off before CHRISTmas?? Fire companies closed or transferred to "as needed" status??

Or even better, DEMOCRAT-led Camden? Christ on a crutch, the state practically owns the city! I guess a big fish tank and a baseball team one step above amateurs doesn't generate enough revenue to pay for every citizen's meals AND keep them simultaneously safe?

While we're at it, let's go large and look across the mighty Delaware River at Philadelphia: Mayor Nutter has a city with THREE major sports franchises, all perpetually competitive and two having reached their respective "big shows" in recent years; the city has world-class hospitals and universities (and THEIR top-notch sports programs); it has, or had, pre-recession, a thriving restaurant trade; Philadelphia has a world-class art museum and science center. Yet, despite all of this tax-generating potential, we have a part-time fire department leaving citizen after citizen dead from house fires, a police force rife with corruption, a DEMOCRAT-led school district making up the rules as it goes along and the city on the verge of economic collapse; not unlike the rest of Pennsylvania under DEMOCRAT and champion free food finder Ed Rendell!

Yeah,...God forbid we NOT vote for Democrats and let the Republicans back in charge. If that happens, we might have (gasp!) something called prosperity (if you're an average graduate of an urban school district, look the word up).

NOW They Want Civility?

By Mimi Hall and Richard Wolf, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON

During a late September gathering with voters to talk about jobs and the economy, Scott Turner of Richmond, Va., had something more elementary than the unemployment rate on his mind when he posed a question to President Obama:

"Is there any hope for us returning to civility in our discourse?" Turner asked.

Six weeks later — at the end of a bitterly fought campaign that ended poorly for Obama and the Democrats — a chastened president professed optimism. "I do believe there is hope for civility," Obama said. "I do believe there is hope for progress." (Yeah,...how's that "Hope and Change" thing working out for you now, Barry?)

To that end, Obama on Nov. 30 will host new congressional leaders for a private meeting at the White House. How it goes — particularly between Obama and incoming Republican House speaker John Boehner of Ohio — will set the stage for new congressional debates over a range of crucial issues: how to create jobs, whether to extend Bush-era tax cuts, challenges to the health care overhaul Democrats pushed through Congress this year, and more.

As the 2012 presidential campaign looms and the economy stays stagnant, political tensions are high amid profound disagreements over the role and size of government. Moderates in both parties are launching a new push for civility, but the loudest voices tend to come from the extremes. The Tea Party movement that helped Republicans take over the House and narrow Democrats' advantage in the Senate was inspired largely by conservatives angered by the growth of government, most recently under Obama.

(snip)

Even after Obama issued his invitation to the White House meeting, Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said Republicans should focus on a starkly political goal: to "deny President Obama a second term."

"The gloves are off," University of Texas presidential historian Bruce Buchanan says. "Ultimately, politics is a substitute for war. ... Is civility impossible? No. Is it likely? No." (The gloves came off when the media took sides)

(snipe)

The nastiness has been brewing for some time.

In the fall of 2009, Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., stunned fellow lawmakers during Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress on his health care legislation. When the president said the government would not provide coverage for illegal immigrants, Wilson shouted out, "You lie!" from the floor of the House. (Well, SOMEONE had to do it!)

Gentle readers:
Why is it no one called for civility when that cackling harpy, Nancy Pelosi, and her supermajority gleefully jolly-stomped the Republicans into silence while ramming one unpopular and failed spending bill after another down our throats?

I say "Reap what you sow, b***h!"  At least Rep Boehner isn't in her office, "measuring the drapes" before taking over!

Gov Christie Drops the Ball,....

Republican Tough Guy gives in to pansy Prez??

TRENTON, N.J. -- Under pressure from the Obama administration, Republican Gov. Chris Christie agreed Friday to rethink his decision to cancel construction of a $9 billion rail tunnel connecting New Jersey and New York City.

Christie, a rising star in the GOP with a reputation as a fearless protector of the taxpayers' money, announced on Thursday that he was pulling the plug on the project because of runaway costs -- a decision that led to an outcry from Democrats who said it would cost the state thousands of badly needed construction jobs and cripple New Jersey's long-term economy.

But after meeting for nearly an hour Friday with U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, the governor agreed to listen to ideas for pressing ahead with the project, known as ARC, for Access to the Region's Core. It is the biggest public transit project under way in the nation.

Blazing Saddles in Philladelphia???

With apologies to Mel Brooks,.....

For more than two years, John F. Street refrained from commenting on Mayor Nutter because he said he wanted to give him a chance.

But now the former mayor says the muzzle is off.

In the interviews, Street called Nutter's first budget "pathetic" and said the city's five-year financial plan was "not worth the paper it is printed on." He said Nutter was a "micromanager" who didn't have any "political convictions" or "priorities."  (This coming from a mayor who thought it bext to stay on vacation when Pier 34 collapsed?)

Street saved his harshest critique for Nutter's relationship with the African American community. He said Nutter had "turned his back" on blacks in the neighborhoods.  (As opposed to you, Mayor Street, who turned YOUR back on the white neighborhoods??)

Specifically, Street pointed to the Police Department's "stop-and-frisk" policy, which appealed to white voters at the expense of harassing mostly young black males. (When white kids start texting each other to start riots on South Street, I'm sure the police will "harass" them, too!)

Perhaps. But if faced with a choice on Election Day, will blacks support Katz or another white candidate over Nutter?

"ABN," Street said, which is short for Anybody But Nutter. "There are people out there who can't wait to vote against him."

Street said the mostly white mainstream media were not in tune with the depth of disdain for Nutter in the African American community. He said Nutter was "not a black mayor, he's just a mayor with dark skin." Street relayed an anecdote of a black man who stopped him on the street and asked if the city would ever have another black mayor.

From the "Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot" Files,...

Jimmy Carter says his philanthropic work is "superior" to that of other former presidents, citing his activism on the environment and leadership filling "vacuums in the world."

Carter, in an interview Monday with NBC News, offered several explanations to support his premise, suggesting his charitable work on the world stage has had more impact than that of George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, the other three members of the world's most exclusive club.

(snip)
Former President Bill Clinton's Clinton Global Initiative also boasts an impressive resume -- better education for more than 10 million children, 33 million acres of forest protected and safe drinking water for more than 12 million people, among other accomplishments. Clinton and former President George H.W. Bush teamed up to raise donations for nations ravaged by the 2004 tsunami in the Indian Ocean. Clinton and former President George W. Bush have teamed up to raise donations for earthquake-stricken Haiti.

Let's see: rebuilding major parts of the Third World after being devastated by Mother Nature or exacerbating the Israeli/Palestinian conflict for your own political gain??  Yeah, that's being "superior."

Oh, You Poor Thing!

(photo courtesy Wyatt Earp at SYLG)

The U.K. Daily Mail newspaper revealed the quote in a review of "Carla and the Ambitious" for Thursday editions.

"Don't ask! It's hell. I can't stand it!" Michelle Obama was said to have told Bruni during a private conversation at the White House during an official visit by France's president, Nicolas Sarkozy, last March.

Yeah, I'm sure travelling to Spain and Martha's Vineyard, having heavily-armed, public-paid babysitters for your children, and posing endlessly for every fashion magazine that fawns over you must be EXHAUSTING! Why not try something easy, like being a firefighter, a police detective, or 47 year old paramedic with a herniated L5 disc!

Why Governor Christie SHOULD Eliminate NJN,...

Two words: Equal Time.

It is well-known that the umbrella of publicly-operated and/or state-run television channels known as PBS is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party and, absent such benign fare as cooking and travelogue shows, broadcasts with a definitive leftist slant.

Which begs the question: where's the publicly-funded media with a conservative point-of-view? That's right, gentle readers, it DOESN'T exist.  And FOX doesn't count!

In a country hell-bent on spreading our American ideals, such as equality and fair play, our own government turns a blind eye when it comes to doling out money to support "public television;" that is, television that doesn't rely on commercial revenue, but rather donations from viewers for financial support.

And who stands to lose the most from Christie's plan? Yup, unions. Unions, as we know, are the very backbone of today's Democratic-cum-Socialist Party.

Howard Blumenthal, paid $154,000 a year to head New Jersey Network and its nonprofit foundation, will return full-time to MiND TV, a non-commercial Philadelphia station, according to a press release from NJN.

He was hired last year after he outlined a plan to turn the network from a drain on taxpayers to a privately run, non-profit standout in public broadcasting. But his vision did not sit well with the stations' unionized employees, who said the plan would cost them their jobs and put potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayer assets under private control.

So I say "YES" to Governor Christie's plan to privatize NJN.  Let the big-business types have a piece of it!  Maybe they'll finally get a chance to rebut the never-ending stream of tree-hugging, corporation-bashing that comes with your annual PBS subscription!

Bye-Bye Birdie!

Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, the longest-serving senator in American history, died Monday at the age of 92, a spokesman for the family said.

Byrd, a Democrat who served in the U.S. Senate since 1959, had been plagued by health problems in recent years and was confined to a wheelchair. He had skipped several votes in Congress in the past months.

Jesse Jacobs, a family spokesman, said Byrd died peacefully at about 3 a.m. at Inova Hospital in Fairfax, Va.

He was the oldest member of the 111th Congress.

The passing of Sen. Byrd will not affect the balance of power in the Senate. West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin, a Democrat, will appoint a replacement senator to serve out the remainder of Byrd's term, which ends in 2012.
Byrd threw his support behind Barack Obama a week after the then-senator lost the West Virginia Democratic primary to Hillary Clinton during the 2008 presidential campaign -- an endorsement that symbolized the shift in his views on race.

Once a member of the Klu Klux Klan, it was the defining moment in his lifelong effort to convince the American public of his changed views on race.

"I have done my best to do the right thing," Byrd said during a March 2005 interview with Fox News, during which he was questioned about his KKK membership in the early 1940s.

Please! Let This Be True!

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is expected to quit later this year after growing weary of the "idealism" of Obama staffers who are just as frustrated with him, according to sources. He'll likely step down after midterm elections, reports the Telegraph. Emanuel still maintains a good relationship with the president, but his rapport with staffers is fatally frayed, sources said. "Nobody thinks it's working but they can't get rid of him—that would look awful," said a source.

His abrasive style and willingness to make major compromises have earned him White House enemies, who have also been frustrated by his inability to pave the way for the president's legislative agenda. "It might not be his fault, but the perception is there," said a political consultant. "Every vote has been tough, from health care to energy to financial reform. Democrats have not stood behind the president in the way Republicans did for Bush, and that was meant to be Rahm's job." It's not certain what Emanuel will do next, though he has expressed an interest in running for mayor of Chicago.

Obama: Talk is Cheap, Oil Isn't,....

As we prepare for a rare, pedantic lecture from the TelePrompter-in-Chief (who's doing a heck of a job, Brownie), we all need to remind ourselves of a few things regarding the BP oil crisis:

  • Yes, as some point, BP and/or its subcontractors, cut corners and put production ahead of safety. It cost the lives of 11 employees and is ruining the ecenomy of a vast swath of our nation's Gulf Coast.
  • BP and its numerous subcontractors clearly had the techonology and engineering wherewithall to build a drilling rig out there and proceed to drill several miles into the Earth's crust ( a record depth, IIRC) to get at a large pocket of oil, so I would think they just MIGHT have the solution to this mess. This type of situation has never happened before and the learning curve (yes, that's EXACTLY what these failed attempts have been) has been terribly steep and everyone in the oil industry is watching and learning from it.
  • Visiting the Gulf four times, walking the beaches and looking to "kick someone's ass" isn't going to clean up the mess. Face it, President Obama: you don't have a clue how to do it and your cabinet is equally clueless to available options. You waited for weeks to address the issue and now you want to address us with your failures? Please, Mister Obama, do us all a favor and simply SHUT THE F**K UP and let BP handle this, OK?

Oh,..the Irony!

By now, everyone has heard that Beau Biden, son of VP "Slow Joe" "Absorbine Jr" Biden, is being treated for a stroke.

While we wish him every bit of good luck, let's look at how non-Obama-worthy this incident has become:

  1. He was initially treated at Christiana Hospital in Northern Delaware. Christiana is the state's top trauma center and yet he was transferred to Jefferson's Hospital for Neuroscience (The area's BEST place for stroke care, in the Bitter American's opinion). Would that have happened under Obamacare? Or would only those high up in the Socialist,...errr,...Democratic Party be afforded such a luxury? Hell, will JHNS even exist under Obamacare?
  2. He was transported by ambulance, for better than 45 miles, surrounded by a cadre of official state vehicles. Hello-o-o? Carbon footprints? All that wasted fuel? Air pollution? Wasn't that one of the backbones of the Obama campaign?? Hell, Algore must be having a stroke of his own right now!!

I'M THE BITTER AMERICAN, THAT'S MY OPINION AND YOU'RE ENTITLED TO IT!
