answered Sen. John Kerry’s joke that he wished Palin had been the governor who went missing:

“He looked quite frustrated and he looked so sad. I just wanted to reach out to the TV and say ‘John Kerry, why the long face?’”

“We can’t spare this woman. She fights.”

Massachusetts Sen. Kerry has joined the fraternity of jokesters using Sarah Palin as a punch line.

Kerry was meeting a group of business and civic leaders in the nation's capital when he decided to play comedian, according to The Boston Herald. He was talking about the disappearance of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, the Alaska governor's Republican peer.

"Too bad," he said, "if a governor had to go missing it couldn't have been the governor of Alaska. You know, Sarah Palin."

Kerry's joke came 24 hours before Sanford turned up to admit an affair with a woman living in Argentina, the Herald reported Thursday.

It's not Kerry's first foray into comedy. In 2006 the former presidential candidate apologized for a "botched" joke he made about American soldiers serving in Iraq.

Talking to a group of students in California, Kerry said that people who do not study hard and do their homework will likely "get stuck in Iraq."

His comments elicited strong reactions from Republicans who criticized him for troop-bashing.

A statement from his aides later said the line was aimed at then President Bush and supposed to read: "You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."

Blagojevich Speaks at Trial: I 'Followed Every Law'

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.—"I have done absolutely nothing wrong," Gov. Rod Blagojevich told state senators as he began his closing statement in his impeachment trial Thursday.

The embattled Democrat said he had "followed every law," as he began a last-ditch attempt to hold on to his job.

After avoiding the trial, Gov. Blagojevich reversed course Wednesday and asked to make a closing argument, after days of boycotting the proceedings that could remove him from office, calling them biased and unconstitutional.

He told senators Thursday that he had come to speak at the Senate trial because citizens said he should.

The governor repeated his frequent complaint that he wasn't allowed to call witnesses who would have defended him against the criminal charges at the heart of the impeachment case.

Mr. Blagojevich did acknowledge that the truth of his actions might not be flattering in some cases. He referred to taped conversations played earlier in the Senate trial. The tapes appeared to show Blagojevich linking legislation to campaign contributions.

He said that's something "all of us in politics do."

"There was never a conversation where I intended to break a law," he said.

The Senate is scheduled to vote Thursday afternoon on whether to convict Blagojevich and remove him. Mr. Blagojevich also said throwing him out of office would set a dangerous precedent.

The Bitter American is incredulous:

He blames "the sensationalism of the media" for his woes, but he whored himself in front of every network in NY while his fellow Illini prosecuted him!

After checking out Fred R. Shapiro’s choice of quotes for 2008 (that’s the article you’ve seen plastered all over the internet this past week), Political Vindication decided we could do far better. So here it is - the best (and by definition, the worst) political quotes of election year 2008.

10) As the election hysteria rose to a feverish pitch in 2008, Obama followers were balancing on their toes in orgasmic anticipation of The One’s ascension. This quote, recorded at a rally, reflects perfectly the dementia running rampant among the glazed-eyed crowds:

“It was the most memorable time of my life. It was a touching moment because I never thought this day would ever happen. I won’t have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won’t have to worry about paying my mortgage. You know, if I help him, he’s gonna help me.”

9) Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, had been saying for years that there was nothing wrong with either the finances or practices of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. When the government sponsored private institutions collapsed and brought on the collapse of the economy, Barney changed his tune. Suddenly it was all the Republican’s fault!

“They get to take things out on poor people,” Frank said at a mortgage foreclosure symposium in Boston. “Let’s be honest: The fact that some of the poor people are black doesn’t hurt them either, from their standpoint. This is an effort, I believe, to appeal to a kind of anger in people.”

8 ) It seems irony is an elephant that never forgets. As the Democrats began the political season boasting a diversity in all but dogmatic liberalism, it didn’t take long before everyone began pulling out the shame cards they’d been using against Republicans for years. This time, though, they were pulling it out on each other. Bill Clinton, America’s “first black president”, was not amused by Obama’s quick draw:

“I think that they played the race card on me. And we now know, from memos from the campaign and everything that they planned to do it all along.”

7) When the issue of abortion is being debated in the Catholic community, it’s expected that we defer to church doctrine. Unless, of course, you’re Nancy Pelosi. Then you defer to…well, Senator Augustine. What did he say about when life begins? The Speaker tells us:

REP. PELOSI: “I would say that as an ardent, practicing Catholic, this is an issue that I have studied for a long time. And what I know is, over the centuries, the doctors of the church have not been able to make that definition. And Senator–St. Augustine said at three months. We don’t know….(skip ahead) I don’t think anybody can tell you when life begins, human life begins. As I say, the Catholic Church for centuries has been discussing this, and there are those who’ve decided…”

MR. BROKAW: “The Catholic Church at the moment feels very strongly that it…”

REP. PELOSI: “I understand that.”

MR. BROKAW: “…begins at the point of conception.”

REP. PELOSI: “I understand. And this is like maybe 50 years or something like that. So again, over the history of the church, this is an issue of controversy. But it is, it is also true that God has given us, each of us, a free will and a responsibility to answer for our actions. And we want abortions to be safe, rare, and reduce the number of abortions…”

6) It’s tough to pick a winner among the hundreds of examples of Sarah Palin derangement that poisoned minds and wet panties across the leftosphere during the 2008 election. Liberals assured us she was a “disabled” “blow up doll” and the only thing that differentiated her from a Muslim fundamentalist was lipstick. But for pure malicious moonbattery, no one matches the camp commander of paranoia, Naomi Wolf:

“Please understand what you are looking at when you look at Sarah “Evita” Palin. You are looking at the designated muse of the coming American police state.”

“Under the coming Palin-Rove police state, you will witness the plans now underway to bring Iraqi troops to patrol the streets of our nation. This is not McCain’s fantasy: it is Rove’s and Cheney’s.”

5) The Middle East is a bloody cauldron of medieval malevolence that is near to boiling over, or it’s not. Many on the left, including President Hopeandchange, are willing to hold on to their shoes and listen respectfully to what nuke-waving leaders like Mahmud Ahmadinejad have to say about the prospects of peace in our time.

“You should know that the criminal and terrorist Zionist regime which has 60 years of plundering, aggression and crimes in its file has reached the end of its work and will soon disappear off the geographical scene,” he said,

“Today, the time for the fall of the satanic power of the United States has come and the countdown to the annihilation of the emperor of power and wealth has started.”

4) Patriotism is a touchy issue around election time. Americans will think you’re bullying them into submission with the insinuation that to reject your call for their sacrifice is to hate your country. So naturally, the noted gaffemaster Joe Biden reached for the flag with one hand and your wallet with the other, singing:

“We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle class people,” said Biden today during an appearance on Good Morning America. “Anyone making over $250,000…” the host began to question, “Is going to pay more,” Biden interjected. “You got it. It’s time to be patriotic, Kate. It’s time to jump in, it’s time to be part of the deal, it’s time to help get America out of the rut.”

3) Being leader of the free world is a full time job, and there’s really nowhere to hide from the philosophical conundrums that demand a direct answer. This realization hit the presumptive President Hopeandchange one day in August as he was levitating under the klieg lights of Saddleback Church, being asked where on the pay scale we would find a world leader capable of deciding when a baby deserved human rights. He quickly discovered another way to vote ‘present’:

“Well, uh, you know, I think that whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or, uh, a scientific perspective, uh, answering that question with specificity, uh, you know, is, is, uh, above my pay grade.”

2) In Hollywood they say the streets are lined with fool’s gold, but it never look so good between a set of silicone street cones. I guess that’s why Americans think the script readers from tinsel town are capable of governing states and lecturing us on impending environmental catastrophes. Aspiring catastrophe Brooke Hogan is eager to offer a little wisdom of her own:

“You know what? I am actually not that much into voting. I think it’s kinda crazy that a woman is running, because I think that women deal with a lot of emotions and menopause and PMS and stuff. Like, I’m so moody all the time, I know I couldn’t be able to run a country, ‘cause I’d be crying one day and yelling at people the next day, ya know?”

1) People will pay good money for a top notch prognosticator, but what if you could get somewhere near the truth for free by deciphering grunts from the psychic’s dog? Maxine Waters, psychic version of a poodle with a personality disorder, sprayed us with a golden version of the future when she let it slip what government would do to the economy if free market principles interfered with a good time:

Waters responded, in part, “And guess what this liberal would be all about. This liberal will be about socializing … uh, um. …”

The congresswoman paused to collect her thoughts.

“Would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies.”

Well, you know what they say - you hang out with dogs, you got to live with the fleas. There’s little doubt about why this country is in the shape it is - America is run by mangy creatures threatening us with the shampoo we ought to be scrubbing them with. But what if we did kick them all out, and the congress was a kennel full of new faces and a free neuter and spade clinic in the coat room? We’d still get what we voted for. If anything is ever going to change, it’s going to have to start with the people holding the leashes.

BTW: George Bush gets dishonorable mention for his hard work over the last eight years dismantling the conservative movement. Along with many kooky liberals and spaced out ‘moderates’, I’ll be cheering his exit from the People’s House in January. Let’s remember him this way:

“I’ve abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system,” Bush told CNN television, saying he had made the decision “to make sure the economy doesn’t collapse.”

69% Say Merry Christmas, but Few Offended by Happy Holidays

Sixty-nine percent (69%) of Americans generally say “Merry Christmas” to greet people at this time of year, but 71% are not offended by others who say “Happy Holidays.”

The Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 19% typically use the “Happy Holidays” greeting and 23% are offended by it.

While few are offended by casual greeting, retailers must negotiate a trickier path during the holiday season. Thirty-seven percent (37%) of Americans would avoid stores where employees are told not to say “Merry Christmas” and the signs say “Happy Holidays.” Fifty-two percent (52%) would not avoid those stores while 12% are not sure. Americans over 50 are evenly divided as to whether they would avoid such a store while younger adults are less likely to do so.

There are no substantive differences between men and women on the Christmas questions.

Overall, these figures suggest a nation where Christmas matters but so does an acceptance of others.

Republicans are more likely than Democrats to say Merry Christmas and less likely to shop at stores that don’t.

Leftywood is at it Again!

What is it about "An American Carol" that scares the Hollywood leftist elite so much that they need to sink to this level?


According to a spokesperson for Mpower, the production company for “An American Carol”, there have been reports of ticket fraud over the picture’s opening weekend.

Other irregularities have been reported as well, such as the movie posted with an “R” rating instead of the “PG-13″ the movie received.

An “R” rating would limit younger viewers from seeing the movie and producers normally will jump through a few hoops in order to get a “PG-13″ rating instead of an “R”.

A website has been set up to investigate and take information from movie-goers who bought tickets for the right wing comedy, “An American Carol” and received tickets for other movies. According to the site, An American Carol/fraud:

We have had heard from numerous people across the country that there has been some ticket fraud when buying a ticket for An American Carol this past weekend.

Please check your ticket. If you were in fact one of those people that were “mistakenly” sold a ticket for another movie please fill out the form below. Hold on to your ticket so we can have proof.

If you have noticed other irregularities with the theatres in your area please let us know in the comment section below. For instance, Rated R film rating (when in fact we are rated PG-13), posters not being up, not being listed on the marquee, image or focus problems, sound issues, etc.

DBKP contacted a source at Mpower for more information and received the following email.

“I just spoke to the office (i’m remote at the moment) and there have been 20 separate reports of theater fraud. I will get details and let you know.”

While 20 reports may not seem like many, the number of ticket-holders who didn’t know, don’t pay attention or didn’t report is likely to be much high.

Todd Warner Huston at NewsBusters is also asking questions about possible ticket fraud:

An American Carol debuted this past weekend and there have been some disturbing reports that ticket sales for the film have been fraudulently credited to other films in cineaplexes all across the country. The rumors are so persistent that the American Carol folks have added a section to their website for movie-goers to report the fraud. The filmmakers are reporting that at least 10 theaters are being investigated for this fraudulent practice.

So, if you have attended this film and happen to still have you ticket stubs, take a look at them to see if you were credited with having paid to attend the right movie.

“An American Carol” is the rarest of Hollywood movies: it makes fun of the Left and liberals and celebrates America.

Predictably, it was slammed in reviews on Left-wing and MSM sites in the run-up to the film being released this past weekend.

On a personal note: In the cinema complex that this reviewer attended, outside of Pittsburgh, PA on Friday, “An American Carol” had a good audience, with most of the people in the line ahead requesting tickets to see the David Zucker-produced movie.

Clandestine Conservatives in Hollywood

As I was being interviewed recently at my Texas ranch by Geraldo Rivera, I thought back over my four decades in acting and how the pool of conservative "tough guys" seems to be drying up in Hollywood. Or are liberal waters just getting too hot for conservatives?

Then I recalled that The Washington Times recently reported, "A group of politically conservative and centrist Hollywood figures (up to 600 at once) organized by actor Gary Sinise and others has been meeting quietly in restaurants and private homes, forming a loose-knit network of entertainers who share common beliefs like supporting U.S. troops and traditional American values." But the article also noted that the secret is out on these clandestine meetings, as conservatives progressively are becoming more and more emboldened.

In a so-called age of tolerance, it amazes me just how intolerant some people are of those who stand for traditional values. For example, if I stand against California's memorializing of Harvey Milk Day or stand for California's Proposition 8, which would create an amendment to the California Constitution to safeguard heterosexual purity in marriage (which I do support and encourage Gov. Schwarzenegger and all Californians to do the same), I'm considered by many to be intolerant and a bigot. But if another actor takes just the opposite positions on those measures, he is considered to be compassionate and a liberator. Or when a liberal candidate, such as Hillary Clinton, runs for president, her candidacy is considered a fulfillment of civil rights and women's suffrage. But when a conservative candidate, such as Sarah Palin, runs for vice president, she's considered a radical right-wing extremist who could usurp the Capitol by toting rifles at her side.

This is America, and we should respect the fact that we will have strong, diverse opinions, and we must allow one another the freedom of speech to air such opines, not suppress them through peer pressure of any type like children. I have many acting friends and many friends in politics. I vehemently disagree with some of them, and that is my American right, as it is theirs. We must agree to disagree agreeably, without blogging about or denigrating someone's life and character before the nation and rest of the world. We must do better at keeping the focus on the fact that we are Americans first; we are not just conservatives and liberals.

If we are going to move our country forward, if it is going to survive and flourish for the next generation, then we have to drop the partisan rancor and pick up a unified patriotism -- not the patriotism of the past eight years or even the past 18 years, but the patriotism of unified spirit and passion shown by early Americans. What was important to them, what they fought for, was not the left or the right, but being American and being free. We've got to get back to that form of patriotism -- one that is based upon the Constitution, not congressional corruption, and elects people for their character, not their charisma. These are the type of citizens and leaders who don't go deeper into debt to bail out debt. These are the type of citizens and leaders who will say enough is enough. Like Ron Paul, who, after drawing similarities between the $700 billion bailout and the Great Depression, said, "The only thing we learn from history, I am afraid, is that we do not learn from history." (Getting to the heart of America's Founders' beliefs -- their patriotism and answers to our problems -- is also at the heart of why I wrote my latest New York Times best-seller, "Black Belt Patriotism.")

I admire those in the recent past who were able to represent a respectful conservatism in the liberal-leaning show business industry -- men such as Charlton Heston, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart and Ronald Reagan. And I'm grateful for others today who also have stood for conservative values -- incredible actors such as Jim Caviezel, Mel Gibson, Jon Voight and others. These are the type of men who will go against the grain of the Hollywood status quo. These are the type of men who get the fact that entertainment isn't about playing party politics. These are the type of men who demonstrate what my hero and stalwart conservative, John Wayne, once said: "Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway."

Despite Tinseltown's liberal leanings, there is a lot of good that conservatives are doing in the film industry -- not only for American entertainment but also for activism. That is why I recommend movies such as Sherwood Pictures' "Fireproof," David Zucker's "An American Carol" and the millennial social cry to expose and stop the global and even American slave trade, "Call + Response."

Underground or aboveground, we're all "created equal … endowed by (our) Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." On Main Street or Wall Street, in the movie business or the political arena, maybe there's much more overlap in life than we think; maybe we've got a lot more in common than we really know. We're Americans.

Newman was absolutely one of Hollywood's finest, not only as an actor but also as a gentleman and humanitarian. Another legendary actor, who inspired us all, has ridden off into the sunset, but he never will be forgotten.)
