Where's the "Advancement" if You Constantly Award Failure?

White House green jobs adviser Van Jones quit the post last year after he was dogged by past remarks and associations, but that isn't stopping the NAACP from awarding him one of its Image Awards

Jones, who served as an adviser to the White House Council on Environmental Quality, generated mounting criticism last summer, first for calling Republicans "assholes" during a videotaped address earlier in the year and then for signing a petition in 2004 supporting the "9/11 truther" movement, which believes the Bush administration may have been involved in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

The latter development, which came on top of several others, was perhaps the most devastating and led to calls for his resignation.

But Jones still has his share of outspoken supporters, and one of them is Benjamin Todd Jealous, president and CEO of the NAACP.

"Van Jones is an American treasure," Jealous writes in an opinion piece posted at CNN.com. "He is quite simply one of the few Americans in recent years to have generated powerful new ideas that are creating new jobs."

Dat's Who!

Note to Fat Andy Reid - BALLS! TAKE CHANCES! REAL QB LEADERSHIP!

MIAMI -- Reggie Wayne couldn't bring himself to admit he admired Sean Payton's intrepid call for an onside kick to open the second half of Super Bowl XLIV.

"I'm the one that's over here with my lip puffed out," Wayne said Sunday night in a tent outside Sun Life Stadium. "So apparently it was a good call."

Wayne and the rest of the Indianapolis Colts' offense were left standing on the sideline when the New Orleans Saints pulled off the big gamble.

Experience was supposed to be the difference-maker for the Colts. They'd been on this grand stage before. The Saints had not.

Yet, the Colts were caught unprepared.

The Saints recovered the kick and, six plays later, established themselves as an underdog on paper only. The Saints went on to win 31-17, and leave the Colts wondering about all the plays that got away.

"I didn't see it coming," Colts right tackle Ryan Diem said. "At that point in the game, I didn't expect them to do anything like that. The element of surprise got us."

Another Sign of the Coming Apocolypse,....

I don't pay much attention to pop culture but two things dragging our society to the bottom of the cesspool were on display last night:

MTV and Radio Air Pollution

PLEASE! Can they both just go away already?

The TrekMedic is a Blogger of the World!

A big HT and huge thanks to Jenn for thinking of the TrekMedic:

Trekmedic251's Is this Life? is a hometown blogger I love to read. Whether it's politics, the Phila teams, (go Flyers), the idiot mayor, or about stupid liberals at their best. I relate to his blog so much because the locals he writes about also affect me and mine. (even though we are a bridge apart) He blogs about anything and everything is totally enjoyable to read.

That said,..I'd like to award Wyatt and Captain America - both are Philadelphia civil servants (police and fire, respectively) and blog about the byzantine workings of the city government from an insider's perspective. And Wyatt's blogging has gotten him national attention, although he's too modest to talk about it!

I also award BobG at Sweet Spirits of Ammonia- Bob blogs from Arizona, along the frontlines of our immigration problem.

And I can't forget Tony Phyrillas - Tony is a rare bird - a conservative journalist in Pennsylvania! Tony blogs about a wide variety of subjects and has the pulse of the rest of the Commonwealth!

Finally, I want to award all of the contributing bloggers at Red November 2008 blog. We're small in number and we don't have the financial backing of the likes of George Soros, but we ARE making a difference!

Feel free to pass the award along to a few deserving souls!
