Because Big Brother "O" Sez So,...

If The Obamessiah and his Obamacare say its good for you, it must be, right?

HT TO Captain America for a portion of this post:

To encourage healthful eating, Chicago school doesn't allow kids to bring lunches or certain snacks from home — and some parents, and many students, aren't fans of the policy

At his public school, Little Village Academy on Chicago's West Side, students are not allowed to pack lunches from home. Unless they have a medical excuse, they must eat the food served in the cafeteria.

Principal Elsa Carmona said her intention is to protect students from their own unhealthful food choices.

"Nutrition wise, it is better for the children to eat at the school," Carmona said. "It's about the nutrition and the excellent quality food that they are able to serve (in the lunchroom). It's milk versus a Coke. But with allergies and any medical issue, of course, we would make an exception."

Carmona said she created the policy six years ago after watching students bring "bottles of soda and flaming hot chips" on field trips for their lunch. Although she would not name any other schools that employ such practices, she said it was fairly common.

And then there's this tidbit I came across today from Thomas Dalhborg:

Reimbursement is being tied to individual linear metrics via Pay for Performance and other programs. In 2015, CMS, through its Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), intends to begin penalizing physicians for not reporting data on these types of metrics. Awards and recognition are being handed out for achieving them. Physicians and physician practices are being rated on them. Consumers (you and I) are being "educated" to select our preferred provider based on these metrics.

Gentle readers, there you have it: We Americans are too fat, too lazy and too stupid to make our own healthcare choices and we can't properly take care of our own children, so let's rely on the government to make those choices for us!  THIS was the "Change" we "Hoped" for??  I call "BULLS**T!!"

Men are From Mars, the UN is from,...?

A month after the United Nations last summer announced the creation of a new, $500 million-a-year organization to promote equality for women in global affairs, the U.N.’s own investigators revealed that 15 years of “gender mainstreaming” efforts within the UN Secretariat have been a sweeping and costly failure.  (Isn't that the Untied Nations by definition?)

The report, issued in August 2010, evaluates how gender mainstreaming -- the term that the U.N. uses to describe achieving equality between the sexes in all walks of life -- is being incorporated in all U.N. work to “ensure that the different needs and circumstances of women and men are identified and taken into account when policies and projects are developed and implemented.”

The evaluation carried out by the U.N. watchdog, the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), looked at 20 of the U.N.’s most important departments and offices. It found glaring deficiencies almost everywhere.

Among them:

- A fundamental lack of knowledge among U.N. staffers about the gender policy, with less than half of program managers polled saying they “always” or “mostly” believed their staff understood what gender mainstreaming is or why it should be implemented.

In other words, there was little evidence that anyone was even trying systematically to make the programs work. In the 20 departments and programs surveyed, only 12 had policies or strategies or had distributed specific guidelines on how gender mainstreaming was supposed to operate.

Click here for the full report.

Those conclusions were not for lack of U.N. efforts -- and hundreds of millions of dollars in spending -- on behalf of women’s rights, as the report documents a welter of U.N. officials, many specifically appointed to the task, running off in various directions to promote improved attitudes toward sexual equality, without necessarily indicating what they were trying to promote.

Is Yellow the New Shade of Blue?

Blue as in "Blue States," that is,....

Lt. Commander Phillip Francis Queeg, "Old Yellow Stain"

Gentle readers,
In the wake of one of the worst ballot box shellackings ever witnessed, the Democratic Party, having raised the ire of Main Street America, was swept from power in Congress and is essentially hamstrung in the Senate.

And the way they get back into the good graces of the American populous is to pick up their toys and run away from the very life's blood of our political system: the representative democrat process??

As we witness in Wisconsin, and now in Indiana, the party of big government and Socialist ideology would rather run away from another tongue lashing than stand their ground and fight! It's not making a political statement, nor is it even grandstanding. In a word, the Democratic Party is committing that most foul of social acts: COWARDICE!

From 2006 through 2010 the Republican Party, we were told, had been outmaneuvered and marginalized to the point of being a fringe element in the political process. They were told to sit down, shut up and do what Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid told them to do.

And as we sat back and gave Nancy enough rope to hang herself, the Republicans have had their patience paid off with the majority they deserve.

You'd think the Democrats would learn from such an example? No,..instead they chose to emulate THIS fictional character:

Its disgusting, disgraceful and shameful! But what do you expect from a party led by a man who's apologized to the world for all of America's good will and runs from every international fight he encounters??

**THAT'S MY OPINION AND YOU'RE ENTITLED TO IT!!**

Capitalism - It STILL Works in America

Ford Reports Surprise $1 Billion 3Q Profit
Monday, November 02, 2009

DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford, the only Detroit automaker to dodge direct government aid and bankruptcy court, surprised investors with net income of nearly $1 billion in the third quarter and forecast a "solidly profitable" 2011.

The automaker said Monday earnings were fueled by U.S. market share gains, cost cuts and the Cash for Clunkers program, which drew flocks of buyers to showrooms this summer. Ford's stock rose 40 cents, or 5.7 percent, to $7.40 in pre-market trading.

The latest results signal that Ford's turnaround is on more solid ground. The company lost more than $14.6 billion last year and hasn't posted a full-year profit since 2005. While it made a profit in the second quarter, that was mainly due to debt reductions that cut its interest payments.

"Found On Road Dead," But At Least Not Bankrupt!

Yeah, so the Obamessiah got to buy a car company today. As far as I'm concerned, I think I got the better deal.

Here's my track record with cars over the last 20 years:

1988-1992 - 1988 Chevy Cavalier
Mileage: Can't remember - I blocked out that nightmare
Cause of Death: Euthanasia.
Comments: A track record of poor transmission and fuel injector sensors from day one: kinda sucks when your 5-speed can't get out of third gear! The original muffler rusted out and fell off 13 months after I bought it. The replacement muffler crumped 6 months before I traded it in. Eggshell-thin paint job: seriously, a raw egg was thrown at my car on Mischief night and managed to expose the primer and bare metal under it from the impact, not the acidity of the egg!

1992-2001 - 1992 Ford Tempo
Mileage: ~115,000
Cause of Death: blown transmission
Comments: God, I missed that car! Homely-looking, but rode hard and put away wet more times that legally allowed. Absent the transmission going (as much a fault of the repair shop as age), I easily could have gotten 150,000. Only had one minor issue all those years: a balky fuel injector that needed professional cleaning every third or fourth oil change!

2001-2009 -2001 Ford Taurus SEL
Mileage: 105,500
Cause of Death: Multiple System Failure
Comments: What the BitterMom called my "luxury car." Has some sensors issues early on, then ran like a champ. In the last 6 months, a combination of rust, diminished fuel economy and a bad suspension added up to costing more than the value of the car. Who knows, with a little TLC and some cleaning up by Garnet Ford, someone will give her a good home!

2009-??? - 2009 Ford Fusion
I looked at Honda and Toyota and liked what I saw. My wallet, however, had a different opinion. I saw the Chrysler collapse over six months ago, when other Daimler holdings like American LaFrance fire apparatus, Freightliner trucks, and MedicMaster ambulances started to go Chapter 11. That was enough to make me shy away.

So it came down to the Chevy Malibu and the Fusion. I like them both. They handle well. The look good. The Fusion gets a slightly better fuel economy, but not enough to make a big difference in my wallet.

What turned it for me? Ford, like myself, had the fiscal prudence and judicious forsight not to give in to the Obamessiah's siren song of Socialism to forgive past transgressions and union largesse.

I'm sold on Ford. Are you?

Something's Strange in that Seattle Coffee,...

How else to explain this revisionist history:

By Curt Schleier
Special to The Seattle Times

"The Protest Singer: An Intimate Portrait of Pete Seeger," by Alec Wilkinson

If you are unfamiliar with him, allow me to sum up what I know: Pete Seeger is a mensch. Literally translated, "mensch" means man. But as with so many other Yiddish words, it means much more. A mensch is an honorable, righteous human being, a stand-up guy. And when it comes to Seeger, it is true both figuratively and literally.

In the 1930s and '40s, Pete stood up for farmers and unions. In the '50s and '60s, he was there for the civil-rights movement. He fought to end the war in Vietnam, and championed every other "lefty" cause. But as Wilkinson points out, though Seeger was at one time a member of the Communist party, he is at heart really a conservative.

"He believes ardently in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. His interpretation of them is literal. ... There is no conceit he has more emphatically embraced than that all human beings are created equal. In the early and middle part of the 20th Century, such a conviction made a person not a patriot but a socialist."

It Really Is Clintopia, Part II

Forget the Obamistake filling his cabinet with former Socialist Clinton clingers-on. After reading this, all we'll need is a cigar, a cheap slut and a few dead bodies with Shrillary's footprints all over them and it'll by the 90s all over again!

Missouri Libertarian Party Condemns Missouri Highway Patrol Training Document as Political Profiling

Internal MIAC “Strategic Report” implies Libertarian Party members and other political activists could be members of “the militia movement”

The memo purports to outline “trends” in extremist militia activity and claims those involved in such activity “…commonly associate with 3rd party political groups.” It went on to claim that militia members are “usually supporters of” Bob Barr, another third party candidate and Republican Ron Paul. While the report claims to be a memo about trends in militia activity, no specific evidence is offered to support the claim.

You can glean the MIAC Report here.

My God,...can you imagine? Third Parties in the face of an ineffective government? Militias responding to the government's attempts to usurp the Second Amendment? All we need now is that media construct Ross Perot in 2012 and the Obamistake in front of his TelePrompter denying he had sex with that woman, Helen Thomas!

Yeah,...I had to go there,....
