Wither the Inkwaster?
So asks Lisa "Bluftooni" Mossie over at Conservative Powerhouse PAWaterCooler: (waiting for that invite Alex,... ;-) )
Just how dire are things over at the Inky? August 11

Maybe this will give you a hint:
Members of the Teamsters union working at Philadelphia Media Holdings LLC, the parent company of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News newspapers, have voted to forego a $25-a week raise they were set to receive on beginning September 1st in an effort to help preserve their jobs.
Newspapers nationwide have been afflicted with declining circulation and revenue and the union is the first of the media company’s 11 unions to take such action. The 10 other unions would have to approve the measure for it to become a reality…
Teamsters voting against a pay raise. Need I say more?

Speaking of the Inquirer, despite all the changes they've made under the new ownership, I still can't believe how far left their editorial page remains. They're out of step with the readership. They should have started by replacing everyone on their editorial board. The paper's editorial page is so predictable. Everything is anti-Bush, anti-Republican, pro-Rendell, pro-Democratic Party. P.S. -- Having Rick Santorum write a column once a week doesn't balance the far left leanings of the paper.
When asked if I read the Inky, my response is usually "life's too short". That being said, they pay lip service to balance on their editorial page by including Santorum and faux-conservative Michael Smerconish. Other than Jonathan Last, who also writes for the Weekly Standard, the best columnist they have is Kevin Ferris. Back when Ferris was the letters editor, and I used to actually read the Inky, fume, and then dash off angry letters to the editor, Mr. Ferris printed every single one of mine and admitted to agreeing with at least one of them. He's pro troops and pretty conservative. His column is called "Back Channels".
That being said, the editorials are still too far left, their endorsements are predicatble and Toodles Rubin still has a job, so 'nuff said.
