Thoughts on ML King Day

DISCLAIMER: I am not attempting to besmirch the character of Dr. King, just what foolery is done in his name.

I don't know what MLK Day is like where you live, but here's a snapshot of the day here in Philly:
  • First, the school's are all closed (natch). Not that anybody would go today,... anyway, urban blacks, in lockstep, make their way to "community centers" and churches (thereby violating Rule 501c3) to receive their annual indoctrination on how badly "Da Man" treats them, and how Dr. King's dream is still deferred.
  • Second, big public spectacles are made by the usual Professional Protesters,....I mean, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, et al. The area's white elected (Democratic) officials stand around, twiddle their thumbs, look ill-at-ease being there, then mumble a few words of more empty promises to placate the masses.
  • Seriously deluded lily-white kids from the seriously deluded lily-white suburbs pay homage to Dr. King by being bused into Philly to pick up litter, paint murals, and cover up graffiti in the "urban" parts of the city. The local natives would do it, but they're too busy being told how bad "Da Man" is!
  • Finally, to demonstrate how bad blacks have it in this country, the Sixers played an afternoon game against (Charlotte? New Orleans?)
Yeah,...I can hear Dr. King spinning in his grave now.
