The 2006 Eggnog Report
Its a slow Saturday evening,..nothing better to post:
So,...over the holiday season (Thanksgiving through CHRISTmas and New Year's), the TrekMedic bought a variety of store-made eggnogs, just to do a taste test.
And the results are in:
- Wawa Brand - smooth texture, not really super-sweet, spicy from the nutmeg. Didn't need any liquor to enhance it.
- Southern Comfort Original - Sweet and smooth, tastes even better with the real SoCo in it.
- Genuardi's/Safeway - Starting to get on the wrong side of sweet and tasted of that stuff they add to thicken it. A good shot of JD or Old Grand Dad took care of that.
- Southern Comfort Vanilla Spice - Maybe Vanilla wasn't the best flavor to add. Way too sweet! Again,..SoCo killed the aftertaste.
- Rosenberger's - Aggghhh! The worst of all the things you hate about store-bought eggnog. No amount of SoCo, JD, Jim Beam, Old Grand Dad or kerosone could save this one!

Wegmans sells a store brand, also, though I have never tried it. Lactose intolerance keeps me from having a lot of egg nog. However, I did tell the employees there that they should call the store brand "Wegg Nog." Apparently, they have yet to take my advice. LOL

What? No Swiss Farms? They have excellent Egg Nog!
BTW, I removed the last post. Somehow part of my word verification ended up in my post.
Go figure...
Didn't get to Swiss Farms this year, KK!
I'll have to add that one to the test list next year!
