Why Soccer Still Sucks

Associated Press
LONDON - Major League Soccer's commissioner is exploring ways to move its season to a winter schedule to align itself more closely with the sport's international calendar. But the move, which would be an attempt to help the United States host the World Cup, could prove problematic.

The league's newest expansion team, the Philadelphia Union, starts next season and will play its home games at a stadium being built in Chester. "And we don't have any plans for a roof," Union president Tom Veit said last night.

Key to achieving that will be building more stadiums with roofs to protect against the worst of the American winter, Garber said.

"Perhaps we have to start thinking about roofed stadiums at some point. But do we have to have a fan base that is developed enough to be immune to the weather, like they do for American football, where they will come out to watch a game regardless of the climate?"

Well,..at least in football, you can field 22 players and actually SCORE more than once every third game!!

I have tried, on numerous occasions, to get involved in watching a soccer game and I just can't do it. Truth be known, soccer is just a boring sport.

Sadly, in hockey, one of my favorite sports, it may not be as popular as football, basketball or baseball, but at least there is always something going on in the game whereas soccer is just a snooze-fest.
