How the Grinch Stole NBC10
Now....normally, the Trekmedic avoids WCAU-TV10 like the plague. The TrekMedic wants to watch the news,..not watch a channel making news (anyone remember John Bolaris' "end-of-sweeps-month Blizzard Alert" or Sharon Reed and her digital catfight with another reporter?)
Well,..now comes this little dandy about Glenn "Propeller Neck" Schwartz:
Word buzzing about NBC10 is that chief meteorologist Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz will not mention Christmas themes on the air.
He reportedly refused to read a scripted voice-over about Santa and holiday lights that led into his forecast. When the producer called him on it later, he said he would not inject Christianity into his weathercast because he is Jewish. It's not known if this is a new policy. Schwartz has been on staff for 11 years.
Schwartz would not confirm a controversy yesterday. He called the matter "internal" and said it did not "belong outside the station." NBC10 news director Chris Blackman said: "I'm not going to comment."
The TrekMedic rallies:
Show the management at Channel 10 your displeasure! Threaten to boycott the station unless Schwartz apologizes. Click here to contact NBC10!
The TrekMedic also proffers this tidbit of common sense:
If Christmas offends your Jewish faith, Glenn,...why not defer the task to Amy Freeze or Doug Henley instead of making such a spectacle of it??
The TrekMedic received this e-mail from Glenn Schwartz:
I regret that you were offended by the impression left by that article - and for that I am sorry. But please don't believe everything you read in the papers.
I will be repeating my 6pm comment on the 11pm news.
