The Philliness of the Fourth of July

Sorry, I tried to avoid snarking over the holiday, but:

OK,..its not true Philliness, since it doesn't pertain to our usual political ineptitude, but,...

How come Boston gets Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops, native sons Aerosmith and 30 minutes of great fireworks, and all we got were Lionel Richie and Fantasia (Fantasia??) ?

Admittedly, I did not go into town to watch last nights "festivities," owing to the line of thunderstorms assaulting us again last night, but I did go to a dinner and fireworks display at the Independence Seaport Museum on Penn's Landing Saturday night.

BTW - Note to city planners: turn the 1500-decibel speakers AWAY from the Seaport Museum during dinner. Its REALLY HARD to hear the string band playing inside when you're blowing away my hearing with that outdoor rap concert!

So,...once again,..Boston got fireworks, a real band, and patriotic music,....

Philly got fireworks, canned pop music (OK,..Elton John's "Philadelphia Freedom" is getting a little old!) and Fantasia!
