Trouble Brewing in Iran?

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - At least 17 people have been killed and many more wounded during anti-government protests in the western province of Kurdistan, a human rights group said.
Human Rights Watch blamed the casualties on Iranian security forces. Interior Ministry officials acknowledged deaths and detentions in the recent unrest in Kurdistan province, but they denied that the security forces fired on protesters.

Human Rights Watch said it obtained a list of 17 protesters killed. Residents told the human rights group that cities in Kurdistan remain surrounded by Revolutionary Guard troops and that undeclared martial law is in force.
TrekMedic's Musings:
Its this kind of dissent, and the reaction to it, that will doom the Iranian theocracy in the long run.

This is, again, good news, TrekMed. The young Iranis have never been thrilled with the theocracy, and have been staging protests and demanding more westernization for years now.
This is also why I said I highly doubt the US will send troops into Iran (unless under the auspices of NATO and the UN Security Council for the WMD threat... very unlikely). Iran is a country that will fall from within due to a rising percentage of the population demanding change.
A little support here and there, and a few noodges, and they will take care of their own future, must to the satisfaction of the rest of the world.
Unless of course, Iran continues to supply arms to Iraq.
Hey, I want to believe the Phils can do it, but I've ridden the roller coaster enought the past few seasons. I would like a consistant winning stretch and some hope. The history of getting crushed over the past few years has sapped the life out of me.
Fair enough, Paul. I just had to give you a little workout about it,...
Yo... like am I getting in the middle of a sports debate here?? LOL
jeez, isn't trouble always brewing in Iran?
Sports is a microcosm of life. There's always room for a little sports debate amongst the rants of world politics.
