Think it Can't Happen Here?

Hat tip to The Royal Flush for this one:
From the CBC Feed:
CALGARY - Calgary's police chief Jack Beaton has used a rare legal tactic to seize a computer from a private home that was believed to have been used to operate a website critical of Beaton and his senior managers.
Beaton obtained a civil court order this month to enter the home of a civilian police employee and seize the computer.
BTW - try accessing www.code200.com. You'll get a 404 error. From other sources, a "Code 200" is Calgary PD code for "Officer needs assistance."
Angry in the Great White North has more details on this incident.

I had touched on this briefly on Sea2Sea, TrekMed. This is connected to the Canadian gov't's ban on coverage of their ethics scandal hearings. They had also threatened tocome after Ed Morrissey at Captain's Quarters by using their federal laws, and requests to the US to enforce it for them.
It was, however, my understanding that the ban on coverage and commentary had been lifted. Thus I wonder... was this raid and shut down prior to the lift in the ban? Or is there more to it?
MATA UPDATE: Ah haaa.... I see. This is a separate "gag" order, and a case of Calgary officials screaming Canadian slander and libel, then using their powers to nip it in the bud.
And to think of those mental duds who head to Canada because they don't want to serve in Iraq! Look what they're getting into, eh?
So is someone making it a point to send this on to Babs, Alex Baldwin and other wannabe-canuck-celebs? Talk about raining on their parade!
Got a petition for you if you haven't already signed it.
The sad thing is, it could happen here.
The sad thing is it was stuff like this that got members of the police service to start the web site in the first place.............this court order and silencing the masses thing sounds awfully Hitler like
