Its My Blogoversary!

Yes, gentle readers, six long years ago, I started experimenting with this thing called "weblogging." It was going to be my on-line stream-of-consciousness.

Incidentally, I started it just before the 2004 Presidential election and this "blog" quickly took on the role of conservative supporter to "W."

In the intervening years, we've seen our country go from a feared and respective world power down through the rise of the liberal apologist to its 2008 nadir of "The One" trying to "hopelessly change" our country into a Euro-Socialist banana republic.

Locally, Philadelphia's sports teams, notably the Phillies and Flyers, have climbed to national dominance in stark contrast to the city's headlong economic rush to bankruptcy and Detroit-like squalor.

I'm rapidly approaching 50,000 visitors, something uber-bloggers see in a week.

I've made quite a few friends along the way and even got to meet the humans behind the viewscreen, like Wyatt Earp and Captain America, as well as Alex C, Bill from WriteMarsh, Midnight Blue, Lisa from Bluftooni, Tony Phyrillas in all his iterations and the entire PAWaterCooler crew.

The 2010 election, and REJECTION of "The One's" policies, is just around the corner and, while my job and need to relocate out of Sillydelphia have monopolized my energies, I'll still be around for quite awhile making sure the Democratic Party NEVER gets another chance to run this country without first purging its ranks of every Marxist, Socialist and nutjob capable of bringing this country to its knees.

Thank you one and all again for tolerating me for these past years and God Bless You All!

Moe-Bama Speaks,...

The Obamessiah spoke on the John Stewart Show last night and said:

Obama leaned in and pointed at the host. "Your suggestion was that it was timid."

Still, the president did not really quarrel with Stewart's notion that Obama has done some of his work in a "political manner that has papered over a foundation that is corrupt."

"I think that is fair," Obama granted.

But when Stewart moved, politely, to point out weaknesses in the health-care legislation, Obama pointed at him again. "Not true!" the president argued.

Obama wore a displeased grin as Stewart diagnosed, with high accuracy, the administration's condition: "The expectation, I think, was audacity going in there and really rooting out a corrupt system, and so the sense is, has [the] reality of what hit you in the face when you first stepped in caused you to back down from some of the more visionary things?"

"My attitude is if we're making progress, step by step, inch by inch, day by day," Obama said, "that we are being true to the spirit of that campaign."

Hmmm,..where have I heard that before?

Oh, yeah! The Three Stooges!

No! Not them,....the ORIGINAL Three Stooges (who, BTW, were HELPFUL to our country in a time of war!)

What a D**K!!

A man faces criminal charges for tattooing a 16-inch semblance of a penis on his friend's back, much to his friend's surprise. During the tattooing, another man helped out by complimenting the victim on the great-looking art being tattooed, which was supposed to be a Yin-Yang symbol. The victim was then told to go home, avoid the sun, and not show anyone for weeks. Instead, he showed his live-in girlfriend, who filled him in on the truth.

Apparently the victim then went to the artist's home, where they got into an altercation, and the victim got punched in the face. Police charged the tattoo artist with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm. It could cost the victim $2,000 to have the tattoo removed, along with the misspelled phrase suggesting he's gay. Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.

Adam McDowell, National Post · Friday, Oct. 22, 2010

Organizers of an upcoming talk by conservative writer Mark Steyn planned for London, Ont., say they were muzzled by a local city-owned convention centre.

A trio of bloggers who run the site StrictlyRight.com inquired on Monday about booking a Nov. 1 speech for Mr. Steyn at the London Convention Centre. The group announced on Thursday that it had received a phone call from the centre saying it would not be allowed to make the booking. The Convention Centre said it was a business decision, but organizers of the speech said they were told otherwise.

"The reason offered by the LCC [in a Tuesday morning phone call] was that they had received pressure from local Islamic groups, and they didn't want to alienate their Muslim clients. It's interesting to note that the LCC is owned by the City of London, and is therefore a government operation," wrote Strictly Right's Andrew Lawton at the website.

Lori Da Silva, general manager of the Convention Centre, said the bloggers approached the centre last Thursday but didn't submit a required "client profile" - basically, financial and other information the centre would need to bill them for the room.

That amounts to censorship at a city-owned facility, Lawton countered.

City manager Jeff Fielding said the centre is free to do what it wants since it operates arms-length from city hall.

"The Convention Centre has its own board and its own administration and is free to make its own business decisions," he said.

An Icon Passes,...

The iconic Walkman has come to the end of its run.

Sony has pulled the plug on the original portable cassette-tape player, Japanese media report.

The company made its last shipment of the cassette Walkmans to the Japanese market earlier this year -- and when they're gone from stores, they'll be finished.

Sony is outsourcing some manufacturing to a Chinese company for sales to people who still use obsolete cassette tapes.

Launched in 1979, the Walkman became a global hit and symbol of tech cool, with Sony selling roughly 220 million of the boxy devices.

Modern MP3 players like the iPod eventually trumped the Walkman and portable disc players -- despite Sony's effort to market a digital version of the 1980s staple.

George Soros is Being Funded by Radical Muslims!

Juan Williams may be gone from National Public Radio's line-up of commentators, but billionaire liberal icon George Soros has donated $1.8 million to hire 100 new reporters for 50 of its member stations.

The money will go to launch a project called Impact of Government, which Soros' Open Society Foundation says will "bring greater transparency and accountability to the workings of state capitals across the country."
The group, which describes its mission as building "tolerant democracies whose governments are accountable to their citizens," calls it a response to the decline in news coverage of state legislatures.

"A strong democracy requires a diverse, independent, and highly functioning watchdog press to help people hold the government and private sector accountable," Ann Beeson, executive director of U.S. Programs at the Open Society Foundations, said in a statement earlier this week.

Vivian Schiller, NPR president and CEO, said the boost puts the public radio stations in a better position than other news outlets to cover the impact of state government on local communitie

And yet, in NP-CR's quest for a diverse, open society, it throws one of its own under the bus for being,..OMG!,...open and independent about his views on Islamoterrorists!!!

With listeners, pundits, and even some politicians saying National Public Radio made a bad call in firing news analyst Juan Williams, the news organization's ombudsman commented on Thursday night, saying that the firing was poorly handled, but necessary.

"Even though NPR handled this situation badly, the fact remains that NPR must uphold its journalistic standards," Alicia Shepard wrote in a blog post.  (To quote Samuel L Jackson in "Long Kiss Goodnight;" "What's the weather like on your planet?")

Williams, a Fox News contributor and 10-year NPR veteran, was fired from the popular public radio syndicate for making comments on "The O'Reilly Factor" about what he describes as his "visceral reaction" to airplane passengers in "Muslim garb." "I get worried. I get nervous," he said.

Shepard said the "hastily made" announcement triggered a "public relations nightmare" that could have been avoided. "NPR could have waited until his contract ran out, or possibly suspended him pending a review," she writes.

Its NOT Bigotry To Speak the Truth!!

Oh, wait,....I forgot: we live in the glorious age of the enlightened one - he who bows before our juniors and denigrates our standing in the world's hierachy.  To speak ill of our enemy is now bigotry?

For making THIS statement on Bill O'Reilly's show:

Well, actually, I hate to say this to you because I don't want to get your ego going. But I think you're right. I think, look, political correctness can lead to some kind of paralysis where you don't address reality.

I mean, look, Bill, I'm not a bigot. You know the kind of books I've written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.

Now, I remember also when the Times Square bomber was at court -- this was just last week -- he said: "the war with Muslims, America's war is just beginning, first drop of blood." I don't think there’s any way to get away from these facts.

And then Glenn Greenwald continually ties Williams to the likes of Helen Thomas (a pro-leftist and anti-Semite), Octavia Nasr (a twit who tweeted her prejucdice and blew away her impartiality) and Rich Sanchez (another anti-Semitic idiot with a big mouth).

There's more of the same Salon, liberal whining containing their view of the easily-ignored First Amendment, but if I puke, I'll ruin the keyboard!  Read at your own risk!

Fewer Happy Days,.....

Tom Bosley, the actor who played mild-mannered hardware store owner Howard Cunningham on the classic sitcom 'Happy Days,' died on Tuesday, his agent confirmed.

Bosley was 83.

His family said Bosley died of heart failure at a hospital near his Palm Springs home. Bosley's agent said he was also battling lung cancer.

TV Guide ranked Bosley's Happy Days character No. 9 on its list of the "50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time" in 2004.

Bosley's death comes just days after that of another beloved TV parent. Barbara Billingsley, who played mom June Cleaver on 'Leave It to Beaver," died this past weekend.

Bosley also starred in the "Father Dowling Mysteries" series in the late '90s, but he was best knows as Richie and Joanie Cunningham's dad, and Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzarelli's landlord, on "Happy Days," which aired from 1974-84.

The show depicted middle-class life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the 1950s just as rock and roll was taking hold of the American consciousness.

Bosley's character was typically the calm at the center of the storm, often dispensing his reasonable advice from the comfort of his easy chair in the Cunninghams' living room.

Catholic Leader Who Stood Up to Liberal Hypocrites Promoted!

Two Americans are on today’s list, and neither a surprise, considering the positions they hold: Donald Wuerl, the Archbishop of Washington, D.C., and Raymond Burke, the former Archbishop of St. Louis.

Burke is the head of the Apostolic Signatura in Rome, roughly the equivalent of the Vatican’s Supreme Court. He infuriated liberal Catholics during the 2004 election season when he said that John Kerry would not be welcome to receive communion in St. Louis because of his position on abortion.

He has also said that Catholic politicians who have supported abortion rights and confused the faithful by doing so should repent and do public penance.

Why Don't I Smell Tea Brewing??

I normally don't reference the "Philadelphia, Weakly" freebie fishwrapper, but THIS really hits the mark!

It’s the perfect time for a political backlash in Philly. After the last several months of sheer incompetence on the backs of many city agencies and programs—PPA, PHA, BRT, DROP—you’d imagine there’d be a little more outrage, especially within City Hall’s opposition offices.

And yet, crickets. Hate to say it, but sometimes Republicans can serve a purpose. And the lack of any real Republican voice against the Democratically-led City government has been deafening, especially lately. So, where’s the Republican counter-punch now that we need it?

“If you can’t beat the opposition just based on what’s happened over the last two months, then you’re not going to beat them on anything,” says Adam Lang, 32, a Republican activist and computer network engineer from the Brewerytown-Sharswood area of North Philly. “[Councilmen Rizzo, O’Neill and Kelly] should have been in front of the Inquirer building screaming, holding press conferences, telling everyone, ‘This is why you need to kick these bums out.’ And yet they’re completely complicit.”

Councilmen Frank Rizzo Jr. and Jack Kelly, two of three Republicans on City Council, are enrolled in DROP and scheduled to receive a combined almost-half-million-dollar payout.

(snip)

The change of focus from local to national issues seems to have basically split the Philly GOP into three caucuses: The official party led by Michael Meehan and supported by elected office holders; the Loyal Opposition led by Kevin Kelly; and Reform League Philadelphia, a PAC since founded by Adam Lang. All factions, however, are unorganized.

All of this, gentle readers, is followed-up by a great comment by Dan Hannan:

“Start out by reading "This party sucks" from Philadelphia Magazine back in September of 2009. It is easily found online The Republican establishment in Philadelphia serves the same purpose as the Washington Generals who used to lose to the Globe Trotters each night. It's beyond tragic that the city that once led the world into a new age of unprecedented personal liberty now has elections reminiscent of a Banana Republic. If good men don't step forward and demand better, this city will become indistinguishable from Detroit, and an open air museum to the dangers of apathy and unchecked government expansion.”

On Bullying,....

Elie Mystal wants you to know that he frequently got the snot beat him out of him as a kid. Which gives him the authority in a Nixon-goes-to-China kind of way to declare that the country is seriously overreacting to bullies. "You see, American children apparently have become so fragile, and Americans parents so litigious, that schoolyard bullying is as likely to be settled in a court of law as it is behind a dumpster out back where boys used to handle their disagreements," he writes at the Above the Law blog.

Bullying is awful, but it's also "unavoidable when more than one male competes for whatever status/prestige/sex is on offer." It's always been this way and always will. The cases of Tyler Clementi and others are tragic, but "how far are we willing to take this thing?" he asks." I don’t like slippery slope arguments, but people get bullied in one form or another every day. We can’t charge all of them, so why should we charge just the ones who happen to have a victim who takes the extraordinary step of ending his or her own life?" Parents must teach their kids how to handle it, not how to run to a lawyer.

Gentle readers,
some of you know my upbringing, some don't.  A refresher: I grew up in the mostly-Italian Overbrook neighborhood of Philadelphia.  As I child I, too, was bullied on a near-daily basis.  It wasn't because I was scrawny, or weird, or effeminate. It was a carryover from "the old country:" my parents were on the outs with the dominant families on the block and kids being kids, it was monkey see, monkey do.  The children of the alpha families dominated the actions of most of the kids on the block, so I didn't just get beat up at school, I got it on the walk home, while playing with my other "outsider" friends, etc....

Then I went to high school.  Even those who slept through Sociology 101 know this is the time when adolescents start to develop their adult pathways: the jocks hang together, the science geeks congregate, the alpha males and females start to establish themselves and the dumb-ass McDonalds burger flippers become bullies.  Most of the same alpha kids followed me into high school and, in search for their place in the hierarchy, through me to the lions day after day.  After 8 years of the Sisters of St Joseph penguins doing nothing more to stop the bullying than wagging their crooked fingers at my tormentors, I decided "enough was enough."

I did something that lawyers have all but outlawed in the school environment: I FOUGHT BACK!  You'd be surprised what happens to you when these alpha male wannabees get sent to the nurses office with a broken nose or missing a tooth or two.  Back in the late 70s and early 80s, all this angst bought you was a trip or two the counselor's office, where you got poked and prodded by a Christian Brother (not THAT way!) to see what made you tick.

Now, after successive generations of the "It Takes a Village" BS and all the touchy-feely that goes with it, actions like that would have landed me in juvie jail, only to exit loaded on Xanax and Adderall.  My parents would be sued by the alpha families for the damages done to their harmless darlings. And suicide?? C'mon, I grew up Catholic!  Suicide is a sin!  And to me it was a waste of my future potential!

Instead, for the unforeseen arthritic pain in my hands from a few boxer's fractures, I live life as a productive member of society (I'm an ex-firefighter and currently active paramedic with 30+ years under my belt).  I haven't degenerated into some "Unabomber" wannabee.  I haven't withdrawn from society, blaming the bullies of my youth for my anti-social behavior.

So, I say this: quit mollycoddling both the bullies and the bullied.  Parents of bullies need to take matters into their own hands and stop their children from hurting others, but the parents of the bullied need to quit hiding their children behind their skirts until the lawyers step in.  This country is f**ked up enough as it is without having to stop and rewrite our children's lives every 5 minutes because some liberal says so!

**THAT'S MY OPINION AND YOU'RE ENTITLED TO IT!**

Close Our Borders NOW!

Published October 12, 2010
| Associated Press

AUSTIN, Texas -- U.S. and Mexican authorities say a Mexican state police commander investigating the reported shooting of an American tourist on a border lake plagued by pirates has been killed.

Ruben Rios, spokesman for the Tamaulipas state prosecutor's office, says Commander Rolando Flores, the head of state investigators in the border city of Ciudad Miguel Aleman, was killed.

Flores was investigating the disappearance of American David Hartley. Hartley's wife, Tiffany, says she and her husband were attacked by pirates on Falcon Lake on Sept. 30, while they were returning to the United States from Mexico on Jet Skis. Hartley was shot and presumably fell into the lake.

Rios says his killing was unrelated to the investigation, but U.S. authorities have said threats of violence from drug gangs who control much of the area has hampered the search for Hartley's body.

Hehe-heh,..They Said "Weiner..."

An ode to undercover fratboy and protector of Philly's citizens, Wyatt Earp:

Think once, think twice, think don't pose for "Wiener."

That's what ballerina Karina Sarkissova probably should have been thinking had she wanted to keep her job.

The management of the Vienna State Opera and its ballet company said it fired Sarkissova for posing in the nude after she was warned not to do it again.

Wyatt, I'll leave the commentary to you,....

Gov Christie Drops the Ball,....

Republican Tough Guy gives in to pansy Prez??

TRENTON, N.J. -- Under pressure from the Obama administration, Republican Gov. Chris Christie agreed Friday to rethink his decision to cancel construction of a $9 billion rail tunnel connecting New Jersey and New York City.

Christie, a rising star in the GOP with a reputation as a fearless protector of the taxpayers' money, announced on Thursday that he was pulling the plug on the project because of runaway costs -- a decision that led to an outcry from Democrats who said it would cost the state thousands of badly needed construction jobs and cripple New Jersey's long-term economy.

But after meeting for nearly an hour Friday with U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, the governor agreed to listen to ideas for pressing ahead with the project, known as ARC, for Access to the Region's Core. It is the biggest public transit project under way in the nation.

Has it REALLY Come Down to This?

Updated: Tuesday, 05 Oct 2010, 8:23 AM EDT
Published : Tuesday, 05 Oct 2010, 8:15 AM EDT

RANDALL CHASE, Associated Press Writer

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell is trying to assure Delaware voters: "I'm not a witch."

The Republican tea-party-backed candidate in her first TV ad since winning the primary pokes fun at comments she made during a 1999 taping of a late-night talk show that she dabbled in witchcraft when she was a teenager.

In the 30-second ad that starts airing Tuesday, O'Donnell smiles at the camera and speaks over a soft piano soundtrack. "I'm nothing you've heard. I'm you."

The tea party-backed O'Donnell faces Democrat Chris Coons in November.

"It's surprising that Ms. O'Donnell, in her first television commercial, offers no solutions to the problems facing working families," said Coons campaign spokesman Daniel McElhatton. "There's no ideas here; there's no plan."

O'Donnell's comments about witchcraft were made during a taping of comedian Bill Maher's "Politically Incorrect" TV show.

"I dabbled into witchcraft. I never joined a coven," she said on the video, a clip of which hit the Internet just days after she stunned longtime congressman Mike Castle in last month's GOP primary in her third bid for Senate.

"One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it. I mean, there's little blood there and stuff like that," she says. "We went to a movie and then had a little midnight picnic on a satanic altar."

In the ad, O'Donnell says, "None of us are perfect, but none of us can be happy with what we see all around us - politicians who think spending, trading favors and backroom deals are the ways to stay in office. I'll go to Washington and do what you'd do."

O'Donnell has made light of the witchcraft comments.

"How many of you didn't hang out with questionable folks in high school?" she asked fellow Republicans at a GOP picnic in southern Delaware last month.

Anything to add, Mr. Rove?

"I am sitting here as a suspect because I have spoken... nothing but the truth"

Dutch anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders goes on trial

Geert Wilders: "I am sitting here as a suspect because I have spoken... nothing but the truth"

The Dutch anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders has gone on trial in Amsterdam accused of inciting hatred against Muslims.

Mr Wilders, whose statements have included comparing the Koran with Hitler's Mein Kampf, told the court freedom of expression was on trial.

If found guilty, he faces a maximum sentence of a year in jail.

Mr Wilders' Freedom Party is the third biggest in the Netherlands after June elections, and is expected to play a key role in the next parliament.

Prosecutors have brought five charges of inciting hatred and discrimination, and the trial will scrutinise statements he made between 2006 and 2008.

In one such statement, in an editorial for the De Volkskrant newspaper, he wrote: "I've had enough of Islam in the Netherlands; let not one more Muslim immigrate.

"I've had enough of the Koran in the Netherlands: Forbid that fascist book."

Opines BBC Ananlyst Geraldine Coughlin:

Geert Wilders is defending his right to freedom of speech, which lies at the heart of the Dutch constitution. He believes he's said nothing offensive. He says his trial is a political process.

And he says it will not deter him from his mission, which is to stop the "Islamisation" of the Netherlands.

This trial is setting a precedent - judges said that in a democratic system, it is in the general interest to draw a clear line on the limits of hate speech.

And it comes at a time when Geert Wilders occupies a more crucial role, and enjoys a higher-profile, than ever. He is set to become a shadow partner in the next coalition government - giving tacit support to a minority cabinet.
