Sickening,...

January 31, 2009, Last Updated 11:00 a.m.
ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y. — The New York State Police at Alexandria Bay are investigating a homicide that occurred at approximately 11:58 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at 114 South Esseltyne St. in Cape Vincent.

The victim, Mark B. Davis, 25 of 172 James St., Cape Vincent, was serving as a volunteer EMT for the Cape Vincent Volunteer Fire Department, when they responded to the address for a medical emergency.

The victim and two other EMTs were at the residence treating Christopher G. Burke, age 25, formerly of Sherrill, N.Y., who now resides at the Esseltyne Street address.

Mr. Burke became agitated and retrieved a high powered rifle from the bedroom of the residence, police said. As the EMT’s were retreating from the residence, it is alleged that Burke fired two rounds, one at the victim striking and killing him, they said.

The suspect then ran from the residence and was tackled and held down by another EMT who was also at the residence, police said.

Clayton Police Department Officer Robin Pearce was first on the scene and took the suspect into custody with the assistance of Alexandria Bay Officer Jerry Delosh.

EMTs at the scene fervently attempted life saving measures, and continued these efforts during the ambulance transport to the Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, where he was pronounced deceased.

After consultation with District Attorney Cindy F. Intschert and Chief Assistant District Attorney Kristyna Mills, the suspect is being arraigned this morning on charges of second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

In addition to Clayton and Alexandria Bay Police Departments, Clayton Volunteer Fire Department, Guilfoyle Ambulance Service and TIERS Ambulance Service assisted at the scene, and Cape Vincent Police Department is assisting in the ensuing investigation..

Man of Steele!

Steele delivered a rousing speech after winning the race, pledging to re-establish the Republican presence in the northeast and win elections in regions across the country.

"It's time for something completely different, and we're gonna bring it to them," he said. "Get ready, baby. It's time to turn it on."

Steele said he would work to build the party to an unprecedented level and warned: "For those of you who wish to obstruct, get ready to get knocked down."

On the Bush Legacy,...

A retort on liberals who say the Iraq War was pointless:

An outpouring of such Sunni emotions _ resentment, frustration, desire to step off the political sidelines _ is expected in Saturday's elections for provincial council seats.

Across the Sunni Arab heartland _ a vast wedge of Iraq between the Kurdish north and Shiite south _ the voting offers the region's first real political personality test since the 2003 invasion swept away the Sunni benefactor and guardian, Saddam Hussein.

The contests for local councils are about who will be carrying the strongest Sunni voice in the years ahead as the U.S. military presence shrinks and Iraqi authorities struggle with every conceivable challenge _ from preventing the insurgency from rebuilding to keeping the lights burning.

Sunnis, who widely boycotted the last provincial council elections in 2005, are believed to be falling in two general directions: either toward the Sunni Iraqi Islamic party in the current government or the newly influential Sunni tribes who rose up against al-Qaida in Iraq and other jihadist groups.

And then there's this story:

MOSUL, Iraq — This weekend's election in Mosul is a showdown for power between Arabs and Kurds, with the outcome likely to influence whether al-Qaida and other Sunni insurgents lose their last major urban foothold in Iraq.

U.S. officials say the insurgency remains a potent force in Mosul, Iraq's third largest city, in part because the majority Sunni Arab population believes it is poorly served by a local government dominated by Kurds.

Voters have a chance to change that when they select members of ruling provincial councils here and in most of the country in Saturday's balloting, the first election in three years.

Imagine the hairstyle of Moe and the intellect of Curly. All you need is Larry on the violin as he whines "what did I do?" over and over again!

Blagojevich Speaks at Trial: I 'Followed Every Law'

A WALL STREET JOURNAL NEWS ROUNDUP

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.—"I have done absolutely nothing wrong," Gov. Rod Blagojevich told state senators as he began his closing statement in his impeachment trial Thursday.

The embattled Democrat said he had "followed every law," as he began a last-ditch attempt to hold on to his job.

After avoiding the trial, Gov. Blagojevich reversed course Wednesday and asked to make a closing argument, after days of boycotting the proceedings that could remove him from office, calling them biased and unconstitutional.

He told senators Thursday that he had come to speak at the Senate trial because citizens said he should.

The governor repeated his frequent complaint that he wasn't allowed to call witnesses who would have defended him against the criminal charges at the heart of the impeachment case.

Mr. Blagojevich did acknowledge that the truth of his actions might not be flattering in some cases. He referred to taped conversations played earlier in the Senate trial. The tapes appeared to show Blagojevich linking legislation to campaign contributions.

He said that's something "all of us in politics do."

"There was never a conversation where I intended to break a law," he said.

The Senate is scheduled to vote Thursday afternoon on whether to convict Blagojevich and remove him. Mr. Blagojevich also said throwing him out of office would set a dangerous precedent.

The Bitter American is incredulous:

He blames "the sensationalism of the media" for his woes, but he whored himself in front of every network in NY while his fellow Illini prosecuted him!

Germany has been very good to Spec. André L. Shepherd since he deserted the U.S. Army.

The 31-year-old former mechanic of the 601st Aviation Support Battalion is enjoying perks that eluded him back home in Ohio: a bed, a bank account, a cell phone and friends.

Best of all from his standpoint, he isn't back in Iraq.

"I'm having the time of my life," says Shepherd, the only American bunking at a refugee-processing center in southern Germany.

The U.S. deserter entered uncharted legal territory on Wednesday, when Germany begian weighing his request for political asylum. The case will put to the test a 2004 European Union directive requiring member countries to grant asylum to soldiers protesting unlawful wars.

Shepherd could wind up in a U.S. jail if his application is rejected, but a favorable ruling could open a new escape hatch for Americans stationed in Germany who want to avoid combat duty in Iraq. About 38,000 American soldiers are stationed in Germany, a key logistical hub for the U.S. Army.

Shepherd has no shortage of supporters. Punk rockers gave him shelter after he decamped from a military base near Nuremberg in 2007 and went into hiding. Dozens of peace organizations have championed his cause since he turned himself in to German authorities late last year and applied for asylum.

"He's our poster boy," says Tim Huber of the Military Counseling Network, part of the German Mennonite Peace Committee, a nongovernmental organization helping finance Mr. Shepherd's legal campaign.

The U.S. Army says 71 soldiers deserted from its European bases last year, a mere sliver of the roughly 3,500 soldiers who deserted world-wide over the past year. It says it doesn't actively pursue most deserters, who make up less than 1 percent of the enlisted force in any given year.

A spokesman for the U.S. Army in Europe said the military is aware of the asylum case but that it is "completely in German hands." If Shepherd is returned to U.S. custody, though, he could face up to five years in prison under military laws.

Fear,..the Dems' Middle Name

Wasn't the Bush Administration supposed to be all about fear mongering? Read on,...

From Dick Polman's American Debate:

Mapping a climate of fear

There are all sorts of disturbing things in this world - such as Rod Blagojevich comparing his impeachment to Pearl Harbor, and doomed Wall Street titan John Thain spending $1.2 million to redecorate his Merrill Lynch office - but, for the moment, I'm particularly creeped out by a development in the never-ending California gay marriage imbroglio.

It has been nearly three months since 52 percent of the state's voters approved Proposition 8, the ballot measure banning gay marriage. Gay activists remain extremely ticked off, particularly because so many donors (and the Mormon church)came to the aid of the marriage banners. But instead of productively channeling their energies - by perhaps analyzing what went wrong; perhaps by tweaking the pro-marriage message so that it's more persuasive - some activists have apparently decided that it would be preferable to create a climate of fear.

Although, considering the technological tools currently available, maybe it should be called Fear 2.0. (Hmmm,..just like the Obamistake's administration is just Clinton 2.0?)

After scouring the California campaign finance records, which list the names and addresses of everyone who donated to the anti-marriage campaign, the intrepid gay activists have enlisted the wondrous Google technology...and produced a series of handy online maps that make it possible for any ticked-off partisan to track down any anti-gay donor, and pound on that person's front door. Or do something worse.

Masturbation Linked to Cancer

Men who masturbate frequently in their 20s and 30s have a higher risk of developing prostate cancer.

Researchers at the University of Nottingham surveyed 800 men, about half of whom had suffered prostate cancer, and found that the more sexual activity they had engaged in as young adults, the more likely they were to have been stricken with the disease. While a higher rate of intercourse did contribute to this discrepancy, most of the difference was attributed to self-love.

On the other hand (pun intended), the same study suggests masturbation and sexual intercourse past the age of 40 may actually reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

Despite previous links to blindness and hairy palms, we fully expect masturbation to survive this latest PR problem.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Bush administration quietly withdrew in the weeks after Barack Obama's election a new rule requiring high-level approval before federal agents nationwide could arrest fugitive immigrants. The future for Obama's aunt, who had been living in the country illegally, will be determined at an immigration court hearing in April.

The Homeland Security Department had originally imposed the unusual directive days before Obama's election, an order that would have affected Zeituni Onyango, the half-sister of Obama's late father. She had been instructed to leave the country four years ago by an immigration judge who rejected her request for asylum from her native Kenya.

The directive from Immigration and Customs Enforcement expressed concerns about "negative media or congressional interest," according to a newly disclosed federal document obtained by The Associated Press. The department lifted the immigration order weeks later, on Nov. 26.

The directive made clear that U.S. officials worried about possible election implications of arresting Onyango, who at the time was living in public housing in Boston. She is now believed to be living in Cleveland.

An immigration judge stayed her deportation order on Dec. 17. The judge reopened her case requesting asylum on Dec. 30, and she has a hearing on April 1 in a Boston immigration court, Elaine Komis, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Executive Office of Immigration Review, said Monday.

Onyango traveled to Washington last week for her nephew's inauguration. News organizations observed her attending an inaugural ball with her immigration lawyer, Margaret Wong.

Several years ago, Obama's aunt has sought asylum from Kenya. The East African nation has been fractured by violence in recent years, including a period of two months of bloodshed after December 2007 that killed 1,500 people.

Obama has said he didn't know his aunt was living in the United States illegally and believed that laws covering the situation should be followed.

The chronology of events means there was a brief window — between Nov. 26 and Dec. 17 — when immigration agents could have arrested and deported Onyango without obtaining the high-level approval required in the government's Oct. 31 directive.

A copy of that directive, "Fugitive Case File Vetting Prior to Arrest," was released to the AP just over two months after it was requested under the Freedom of Information Act. It does not mention President Obama or any members of his extended family.

The immigration directive was lifted weeks after the election, according to an internal e-mail provided Monday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE spokeswoman Kelly Nantel previously had told the AP the directive was still in place, and the White House told the AP late Sunday that Obama would consider whether to overturn it.

In the Shadow of Sarah,....

Notice that no one wants to admit she has "experience issues," too?

In a stunning revelation, a source close to Gov. David Paterson insisted this afternoon that the governor "had no intention" of picking Caroline Kennedy for New York's vacant senate seat - because she was "mired" in an issue over taxes, her nanny and possibly her marriage.

Kennedy was "mired in some potentially embarrassing personal issues," the source said, citing tax liabilities and worker compensation liabilities connected to the employment of a nanny.

The source also said the state of her marriage may have presented a problem as well.

"She has a tax problem that came up in the vetting and a potential nanny issue," the source said. "And reporters are starting to look at her marriage more closely," the source continued, refusing to provide any specifics.

Kennedy denied any issue over her marriage in an interview with The Post last month. Aides to Kennedy couldn't immediately be reached.

Hours earlier, a source close to Kennedy told The Post she'd bowed out because she'd become aware of a personal issue early Wednesday afternoon, but that it had nothing to do with her uncle, Sen. Ted Kennedy, and his ailing health, contrary to some reports citing "a family source."

Reflections on "W:" An American Hero

Today, at 12:00 noon, power once again passed peacefully to another administration, as it has for more than 200 years.

He graciously worked WITH the incoming administration to ease the transition, unlike his predecessor, who vandalized everything in sight on the way out.

In 8 years, George W. Bush had to fight a three-front war that he never asked for. Less than a year into his administration, the country was suckered-punched in a terrorist attack that belittled the scope of Pearl Harbor. He vowed that it wouldn't happen again on his watch, and it didn't. But that didn't stop the media, both here and abroad, from hounding and belittling him at every opportunity.

Like Barack Obama, he inherited a weak economy, then blamed on the so-called "dot-com bubble." However, the weak economy being inherited by Obama is being laid squarely at the feet of Bush.

He never lost his faith and injected into his administration as often as the law allowed. He was a human being, brought to tears by every American death in this War on Terror; yet, he grabbed a bullhorn at Ground Zero and shouted into the face of our enemy that we would not let this go unavenged.

Today, the press will most likely portray him as leaving the White House with his shoulders slumped in dejection.

But that's not it,...he's just bowing his head in prayer again for this country.

THANK YOU, GEORGE WALKER BUSH!

BTW:

Charlie on the Turnpike and Tony Phyrillas have excellent, and differing, editorials on W"s administration.

The Battle Plan,....

Received from an e-mail from Moshe of the Young Republican Network:

Republican Activists,

This Tuesday marks a moment in history. A time where America is exposed to blatant socialist thinking; yes this is worse than the subversive behavior of the recent Republican Party.

I don't need to harp on this, we're going to get plenty of emails detailing the end of the world, etc. I care more about action than talking. I am, in essence, an activist. ;)

WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, HERE'S THE 5 POINT PLAN!

#1 - CONNECT WITH OTHER ACTIVISTS in your area and state. I'm NOT talking about "cocktail Republicans", "Happy Hour Only" YR's, or people who complain all the time. I'm talking about people who understand what it takes to get something done and can move through a thankless job without injury.

#2 - STOP GIVING LIBERALS MONEY in an effort to promote the Republican and Conservative cause! This drives me crazy. Connect with Republicans on Republican platforms. So far I know of several new party movements, including RebuildTheParty and TeamSarah, that are supporting pornography, Democratic fundraising, and liberal platforms - none intentionally. OK, I'll consider #2 TMI at this point but we REALLY need to start understanding what we're doing or things are not going to get better. (Don't feed the gorilla that you're about to fight!)

#3 - WORK TOGETHER! You are not going to create the next MoveOn.org, ever. So get over it. MoveOn.org was NOT grassroots. It was the political arm of George Soros to undermine President Bush. It's popularity came after Soros pumped millions into it. You will not be able to do the same thing without millions of dollars in funding. Where does that leave us? The same place we started... smarter, more motivated, and better connected than the Democrats. We just need to start working together... try these words, HELPING each other in our various projects.

#4 - PLAN, GROW, BUILD! What are your plans in these next 2 years? What are the plans of your local Republican Party? What about candidates? Who's running for office in your area? What can you do to make a race more competitive in this and future races? There's a quote out there that states, "If you fail to plan then you plan to fail."

#5 - Read 1 through 4 again, think about why I'm saying these things, and think about what you can do to "Change the Game"

What Defines "Diversity?"

As many of my inner circle know, the Bitter American has a Facebook page. One of the applications addresses our ethnic diversity. Currently, most are Italian, Irish or Jewish (who IS that 3% Lithuanian??)

Recently, the Bitter American sent out invitations to add the application to some newer "friends." Some added it, some chose to postpone applying it. Then I got a disturbing message from a now non-friend about it.

In it, he accused me of being a "faux Conservative" because I "embraced that 'diversity' nonsense."

Thus lies the crux of this blast of bile into the blogosphere: in the post-9/11 world, our definitions and interpretations of everyday society have become skewed along ideological lines. A liberal's truth is a conservative's lie and vice versa.

To the Bitter American, "diversity" is the epitome of our "melting pot" moniker. America was first settled by peoples who wanted to start anew or escape oppression in their native lands. We started a country based on ideals not heard of in most of Europe or Asia. And when we finally got our country on stable feet, the word got out to more and more countries. People from all over the world came to our shores, seeking that "American Dream," each bringing a different perspective on how to address and attain that dream. That is what makes us strongest. I'm fairly sure the Greek interpretation of America differs from the Russian, and from the African or Asian. (Side note - I recently read in a travelogue that in most of Southeast Asia it is better to say you don't adhere to any organized religion than to admit you are an atheist. In their minds, atheism = communism and communism = hell on Earth.)

Now, to the Bitter American, having grown up in a mostly Italian- and Irish-Catholic neighborhood, the opportunity to meet those of different ethnicities and beliefs is exciting and a part of the maturation process. It helps my intellectual growth.

Unfortunately, to others on both sides but abetted by a leftist media, "diversity" means making sure you have enough blacks, women, handicapped and gay/transgendered people (whether you need them or not) to fulfill a made-up and unachievable quota. It stunts growth and hurts our economy. Nothing good come from it and its doomed to fail from the beginning.

**THAT'S MY OPINION AND YOU'RE ENTITLED TO IT!**

Why a United Europe Will NEVER Beat the United States

MOSCOW - Vigorous complaints from European leaders failed yesterday to thaw the deep-rooted economic and political dispute between Russia and Ukraine that has blocked natural gas shipments to much of Europe in the dead of winter.

With the crisis moving into its second week, Moscow and Kiev both held rigidly to allegations that the other country was to blame for upending Europe's winter heating plans. The European Union appeared to have little leverage other than pleading for a restoration of the gas that heats their homes and powers their factories. Even EU threats of a possible wave of lawsuits did not move either nation into action.

In an apparent indication that no resolution is on the horizon, Russian President Dmitry A. Medvedev proposed European gas-consuming countries send their leaders to Moscow on Saturday for a summit.

Both Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir V. Putin accused Ukraine of holding Europe hostage, while Kiev said Russia was deliberately erecting technical obstacles to delivering gas to Europe through Ukrainian pipelines.

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso called the situation "unacceptable and incredible" and said he would urge EU energy companies to sue if a resolution does not come soon.

That suggestion was embraced by Ukraine's president. "We are ready to support any European efforts to force our Russian partners to resume full contract supplies," Viktor Yushchenko said in Poland after meeting with Polish President Lech Kaczynski.

The crisis has deepened European concerns about Russia's willingness to use its energy riches as a political tool. It also raised questions about the reliability of Ukraine, whose pro-Western leaders want to join the EU but are mired in dangerous disputes with Russia and intramural rivalries that have nearly paralyzed the government.

About 20 percent of Europe's gas comes from Russia via Ukrainian pipelines. Bulgaria and Slovakia are entirely dependent on Russia for gas, and the cutoff has inflicted wide hardships there.

Russia stopped selling gas to Ukraine on Jan. 1 because of a price dispute, then accused Ukraine of stealing Europe-bound gas and tuned off the taps entirely Jan. 7.

The Bitter American biliously blasts:

Pleading and lawsuits??? Well, that explains the Blitz in WWII, doesn't it??

He Was Not a Number, He Was a Free Man!

LOS ANGELES — Patrick McGoohan, the Emmy-winning actor who created and starred in the cult classic television show "The Prisoner," has died. He was 80.

McGoohan died Tuesday in Los Angeles after a short illness, his son-in-law, film producer Cleve Landsberg, said.

McGoohan won two Emmys for his work on the Peter Falk detective drama "Columbo," and more recently appeared as King Edward Longshanks in the 1995 Mel Gibson film "Braveheart."

But he was most famous as the character known only as Number Six in "The Prisoner," a sci-fi tinged 1960s British series in which a former spy is held captive in a small enclave known only as The Village, where a mysterious authority named Number One constantly prevents his escape.

McGoohan came up with the concept and wrote and directed several episodes of the show, which has kept a devoted following in the United States and Europe for four decades.

Born in New York on March 19, 1928, McGoohan was raised in England and Ireland, where his family moved shortly after his birth. He had a busy stage career before moving to television, and won a London Drama Critics Award for playing the title role in the Henrik Ibsen play "Brand."

Is Tony P trying out pimping for extra ca$h?

Has it come to this? Everyone complains about the high cost of a college education, but one young lady in England is taking it to the extreme.

Natalie Dylan, 22, a self-proclaimed virgin, is willing to have sex with the highest bidder in her quest to pay for her master's degree.

There's plenty of interest so far. More than 10,000 men have bid on the opportunity to deflower Ms. Dylan. The bidding has reached £2.5 million ($3.7M in U.S. dollars).

Apparently, being a lawmaker-by-genetics might not be enough for "Princess" Caroline Kennedy, so she,..like,...y'know,...had to make this promise (via Drudge):

Caroline Kennedy met with Paterson over the weekend, and like Cuomo, she's been close-mouthed. But sources tell CBS 2 HD an apparent plus for Kennedy is she hopes to bring President-elect Barack Obama to New York to campaign for her and the entire Democratic ticket.

However, a spokesman for Kennedy told CBS 2 HD that no promises have been made.

"This is an inappropriate and misleading rumor about conversations that have neither taken place nor been contemplated," Kennedy spokesman Stefan Friedman said.

One of These Things is Not Like the Other,...

So, last week, the Bitter American made his first visit to the doctor's office for 2009. As I was walking from the medical office building back to the parking lot, I noticed something on the corridor walls:

A tapestry with a menorah and the phrase "Happy Hanukkah;" a tapestry with a picture of Mary and Joseph holding the Baby Jesus, illuminated by the Bethlehem Star; and a tapestry with another menorah and black, red and green candles, adorned with the phrase "Happy Kwanzaa."

Notice something??

Let me state it again:

And the Leftist, Anti-Semitic Piling-On Continues,..

More lies and BS bouncing about the leftisphere today:

From Suburban Guerrilla (and posted with glee):

ISRAEL has sought to justify its military attacks on Gaza by stating that it amounts to an act of “self-defence” as recognised by Article 51, United Nations Charter. We categorically reject this contention.

The rocket attacks on Israel by Hamas deplorable as they are, do not, in terms of scale and effect amount to an armed attack entitling Israel to rely on self-defence. Under international law self-defence is an act of last resort and is subject to the customary rules of proportionality and necessity.

The killing of almost 800 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and more than 3,000 injuries, accompanied by the destruction of schools, mosques, houses, UN compounds and government buildings, which Israel has a responsibility to protect under the Fourth Geneva Convention, is not commensurate to the deaths caused by Hamas rocket fire.

For 18 months Israel had imposed an unlawful blockade on the coastal strip that brought Gazan society to the brink of collapse. In the three years after Israel’s redeployment from Gaza, 11 Israelis were killed by rocket fire. And yet in 2005-8, according to the UN, the Israeli army killed about 1,250 Palestinians in Gaza, including 222 children. Throughout this time the Gaza Strip remained occupied territory under international law because Israel maintained effective control over it.

Israel’s actions amount to aggression, not self-defence, not least because its assault on Gaza was unnecessary. Israel could have agreed to renew the truce with Hamas. Instead it killed 225 Palestinians on the first day of its attack. As things stand, its invasion and bombardment of Gaza amounts to collective punishment of Gaza’s 1.5m inhabitants contrary to international humanitarian and human rights law. In addition, the blockade of humanitarian relief, the destruction of civilian infrastructure, and preventing access to basic necessities such as food and fuel, are prima facie war crimes.

We condemn the firing of rockets by Hamas into Israel and suicide bombings which are also contrary to international humanitarian law and are war crimes. Israel has a right to take reasonable and proportionate means to protect its civilian population from such attacks. However, the manner and scale of its operations in Gaza amount to an act of aggression and is contrary to international law, notwithstanding the rocket attacks by Hamas.

And from some other Philly leftist garbage pile,....

Navi Pillay, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said the attack, first revealed in The Telegraph, on members of the extended Samouni family in the Gazan town of Zeitoun "appears to have all the elements of war crimes."

Her remarks came after the International Committee of the Red Cross accused Israel of breaking the rules of war by failing to help the wounded in the incident.

According to the ICRC, four infant children were found too weak to stand after clinging for 48 hours to what ambulance crew believed to be the corpses of their mothers while Israeli soldiers were less than 100 yards away.

Under the rules of war, soldiers have an obligation to treat properly the survivors of combat.

Speaking to an emergency session of the UN Human Rights Council Miss Pillay said Palestinian militants firing rockets into Israel was "unacceptable'' but that it did not justify alleged abuses committed by the Israeli army.

She said conditions currently being endured by the 1.5 million strong population of Gaza "constitute egregious violations of human rights".

"Accountability must be ensured for violations of international law,'' she said.

"As a first step credible, independent and transparent investigations must be carried out to identify violations and establish responsibilities.

"I remind this Council that violations of international humanitarian law may constitute war crimes for which individual criminal responsibility may be invoked.''

Israel has denied there is any humanitarian crisis in Gaza and said it is working in concert with international agencies and doing everything possible to reduce civilian casualties.

But,...let's remember that Hamas isn't just a terrorist organization chartered to the destruction of Israel, the replacement of the Palestinian Authority with an Islamist state on the West Bank and Gaza, and to raising "the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine," it is the legally-elected political party that leads the Palestinian Authority.

But, conveniently, the left overlooks THEIR atrocities while attacking Israel's right to self-defense!

Are Democrats Painting Themselves Into a Corner for 2010 and Beyond?

As the shenanigans involved with picking a cabinet precede the coronation,...I mean, the inauguration of the Obamistake continue, let's look at the dirty tricks and assorted nastiness the Dems can't utilize anymore:
  • They can't use the 'experience' card anymore. Obama is so inexperienced, he's brought in just about everybody from the LAST Democratic administration just to get him started.
  • It especially can't apply to women anymore,..not if Caroline Kennedy becomes a Senator. And besides, Tina Fey doesn't bear any resemblence to the Kennedys (unless she's got a glass of single malt in her hand)
  • The way Roland Burris is getting pushed around, you'd think we would here more from Jesse and Al about how "The Man" is keeping a brother down; but,..."The Man" is now also black.

Yep,...what you sow is also what you reap!

From the "I Told You So" Files,...

What's a good detergent to remove bus tracks off my back??

One of America's Great Radio Talents To Launch Additional Two Hour Program;
WOR-AM In New York To Carry Program Beginning on Monday, February 2

CBS RADIO, one of the nation's largest major market radio operators, and Dial Global are proud to announce the syndication of "The Michael Smerconish Program." Smerconish, currently heard weekday mornings (6:00-9:00AM, ET) on CBS RADIO's The Big Talker WPHT-AM in Philadelphia and WHFS-AM in Washington, D.C., will launch an additional live program (12:00Noon-2:00PM) beginning on Monday, February 2. WOR News Talk Radio 710 in New York is the first affiliate to sign on to carry the two hour show and will broadcast the program from 8:00-10:00PM each weekday night.

Smerconish, who has been recognized by Radio and Records as "one of the best local talk show hosts in America," and "one of America's most important talk show hosts" by Talkers Magazine, is a Philadelphia lawyer turned political commentator, best-selling author, and columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News. Prior to Smerconish's arrival at WPHT in Fall 2003 the station earned a 2.2 share among listeners 12 in morning drive. In the most recent ratings survey, Smerconish delivered a 5.5 share among the same demographic.

"We are thrilled to partner with Michael Smerconish and CBS RADIO and expand his program nationally," says David Landau, co-president of Dial Global. "Michael takes compelling positions on both sides of the issues and successfully moves the dialogue beyond politics alone. No doubt that is why his ratings track record in Philly is so strong against industry titans."

"Listeners all over America are looking for a fresh and unpredictable talent who sees the issues from all sides - Michael is just that person," says Amy Bolton, Senior Vice President, News and Talk for Dial Global. "He is poised to be the next great radio talk star."

Hmmm,....just like a good "Fairness Doctrine" zombie!!

You Can't Make This Up!

A young Papua New Guinea woman was burned to death in what authorities fear is the latest witchcraft killing in the remote and lawless interior of the country.

The woman, believed to be between 16 and 20 years old, was stripped naked, gagged and tied to a truck loaded with firewood — which was driven to a town dump and doused with gasoline — before being set aflame, according to witnesses who saw the act near Mount Hagen in the Western Highlands.

"The girl was stripped naked and could not shout for assistance or resist as she was tightly strapped and her mouth gagged," Jessie James, a man who saw the girl's death, told the local Post Courier Mail.

"I don't know the right words to describe it but it's barbaric. Can you find the best words to describe such acts that are rampant here?" said Highlands police chief Simon Kauba.

PNG police believe the girl was either accused of being a witch or that she had been blamed for infecting one of her killers with HIV/Aids, both of which are punished by the death penalty by the jungle justice practiced by the indigenous communities of the Highlands.

Its Official: Algore is Full of S**t!

From the Frazee (MN) Forum:

With the large amounts of snow, the trail crew has been unable to keep a designated trail open for the Third Crossing Sled Dog Rendezvous originally set Jan. 23-24 near Frazee.

Because of this, and other snow-related reasons, the ninth annual sprint sled dog race has been canceled. This sprint race is one of the largest in the Lower 48, with top teams coming from Canada, Alaska and Europe in past years. The event draws 2,000-3,000 spectators each year.

The trail crew reported that as soon as they get around the course with snow machines and the Department of Natural Resources' big tracked groomer, the winds just drift it right back smooth and shut again.

"There were huge problems in each of the three attempts to designate the race course with everybody getting stuck in the deep snow, especially in drifted areas," said trail helper Eddy Streeper, a 30-plus year veteran sprint dog racer who has rarely heard of a snow cancellation for a sled dog race.

The possibility of dog injuries made the call easier to make, said Sled Dog Club President Heidi Brune. With a deep, dry powder base that could not be firmed up for the high-powered fast dog teams, stopping teams to untangle or for other emergencies would not have been an option. Mushers carry a snow hook, which is basically a 4- to 5-pound steel, two-pronged hook designed to be stomped into the base of the trail or the frozen ground to keep a team stopped if needed.

Also at speeds of up to 20 miles per hour, with as many dogs as 20 per team, leg injuries could result from the teams running through unpackable snow depths of over four feet on this trail.

Twice in the past 11 years the race has been canceled due to lack of snow, so too much dry snow brings about yet another odd twist on an event that is dependent on the weather.

"We hope for a better year in 2010 and look forward to having all the top sprint dog teams back in Frazee!" Brune said.

The Frazee Sled Dog Club has planned its next race for Friday and Saturday, Jan 22-23, 2010.

Just wondering?

Is the Circus Back in Town?

So,...welcome to the 111th session of Congress.

So far, they've refused to seat the junior Senator from Illinois because his appointment was by a governor who tried to sell the seat before going legit,...

They've refused to seat the junior senator from Minnesota because the winner may have lied at the polls (but the again, he's used to being a lying liar who spreads lies to the public). That's what happens when the total vote count exceeds the total number of registered voters.

And,...the Governor of New York can't appoint a replacement for Princess Pansuit because his choice is a dilettante with ABSOLUTELY NO EXPERIENCE,..and we know how much fun the left had about a certain Conservative slapped with that label so much, it'll take about, oh,... 4 YEARS to peel them all off!!!

Nice going!

Oh, yeah,....I'm gonna have a lot of Bitterness to blog about for the few years!!

Keep the Libraries, but Don't Burn the Books!

So,..Mayor Squidward went ahead and did it!

Inquirer staff writer Jeff Shields reports:

Seven fire companies were closed this Monday morning and 130 firefighters were reassigned to other companies throughout the city, fireighters union chief Brian McBride said.

Local 22 of the International Association of Firefighters has tried to block the closures through the courts, saying the action would put firefighters and the public in jeopardy. But the union lost the first two rounds in lower courts this week, and are hoping for a favorable ruling on their appeal to the state Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the five engine companies and two ladder companies have been deactivated.

Now five different stations are without the ability to put out a fire, because there are no engines -- "no water," McBride said "They might as well be libraries without books." (But Squidward gets to keep his libraries)

No comment yet from the Nutter administration, which has taken the position that firehouses will work in tandem to provide proper firefighting and rescue capability.

The closures come as the city tries to close a budget gap.

Bitter Makes for Better Blogging!

After weeks of languishing in the basement, the new and improved Bitter American finally cracks not only BlogNetNews' Top 20, but climbs up to Number 9 on this week's list! (Albeit under my former nom-de-blog, Lisa!!)

And somehow, Conservative stalwarts Tony Phyrillas and AlexC's PaWaterCooler have been usurped by some lib-tard blog from the Lehigh Valley? That's OK,..they're Number 1 and Number 6, respectively, in the list of blogs that matter. (I'm Number 7)

Onwards to more bilious blogging!!

Hollyweird is Starting Already

So, the Bitter American was finally finishing yesterday's Inkwaster this morning when he came across yet another leftist-let's hold hands and sing Kum-Ba-Ya-Hollyweird diatribe.

Christopher Kelly bemoans the continued existence of racism and racists ideology in America's movies, specifically, Clint Eastwood's new "Gran Torino," in the Age of the Obamistake?

Kelly calls the movie "cringe-inducing" because Clintwood's character is "A grousing, growling racist from the Archie Bunker old school, (who) finds himself as the last white person still living on a now entirely Asian American street in a run-down neighborhood in Detroit."

Kelly then posits "In real life, of course, Walt would probably just sell his house and move. But this being a Hollywood movie, he stays put and finds moral redemption."

Well, guess what, Mr. Kelly? The Bitter American lives in a neighborhood that 10 years ago was mostly working-class Irish- and Italian-Catholic butted against a working-class Jewish neighborhood.

Today, its 99.44% black, and I'm the last white guy on my block. Why haven't I just pulled up stakes and moved? Well, in Mr. Kelly's distorted world, it must be really easy. For me, I've had to drop close to $10K over the past two years to repair and replace and repaint. I've taken a second job (albeit one for which I am well-compensated) and, hopefully, I'll be outta here in the late spring because I'll have finally saved enough to put down 20%. I'm funny that way,..I don't ask for charity or a loophole-filled, fingers-crossed mortgage! I want to be able to pay off my mortgage in a timely fashion and actually own my home someday.

But back to that mean, racist guy, Walt: Kelly goes on to state "Obnoxious and idiotic in equal measure, Gran Torino normally wouldn't be a worth a second thought. But it arrives in theaters seven weeks after President-elect Barack Obama instantly rewrote the narrative of race relations in the United States."

And thus is the crux of the Bitter American's bile blogging: The Obamistake DIDN'T rewrite the narrative of race relations. The MSM did it for him! Doesn't that just send a tingle up your leg?

No,...if America was ready to elect a person based on character and not color, Michael Steele would be a gentleman Senator from Maryland. But no one heard his platform because the NAACP was too busy throwing Oreo cookies at him.

So, this isn't a new era in race relationships in America, folks! Its the second coming of the Socialist Clintonian Utopia (SCU): where fighting and evil thoughts are illegal and where the leaders of our country will confront our enemies and talk themselves into a corner from which 9/11's spring forth.

And in order to get the American Everyman onboard with this philosophy, the MSM finds itself tasked with eliminating the expression of any ideology not in line with the SCU (and they bitched about Bush killing the First Amendment?)

Drama derives from conflict and if that means having a racist character at its center, so be it. If not, we are doomed to a world imagined in Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron," where "All men are not created equal. It is the purpose of the Government to make them so."

I'm still bitter and the phone lines are open!

Bitter Butter Makes for a Better Blogger?

Gentle Readers, today starts the beginning of a new chapter in my blogging life.

Why "The Bitter American?"

I'm tired of watching the Republican Party get kicked in the privates by a left-slanted media and poor internal choices.

As a Pennsylvanian, I wear that insult from the Obamistake as a badge of honor.

I sleep at night with a loaded gun and a Bible at my bedside.

I'd rather put acres of anthracite to work over acres of windmills, corn, or soybeans.

I believe a few acres of Alaskan wilderness are a sufficient sacrifice to give the Saudis the middle finger once and for all.

And I believe someone within the Republican Party will draw up a new Contract With America on 2010.

Keep reading, folks,..I've got plenty of bile to belch!
