Thank You, Phillies
Am I upset? Not really,....
It was all par for the course for the 2007 Phillies.
This is a season that started with such positives that a challenge came from one of the team's brightest players that they were the team to beat in 2007.
And Jimmy put his money were his mouth was, working it every game, right until that very last triple on his very last at-bat of the regular season.
But we wasted a lot of money and time on those players who have no business being in the major leagues anymore. (cough)(cough) Barajas, Garcia, Helms, Mesa (cough)(cough)
We should have waltzed into Kansas City and Pittsburgh and swept them aside, but instead we limped away with our asses in our hands and our tails between our legs.
But we beat our arch rivals, the Mets, for the last eight straight games! Whodathunkit!
Our staring rotation was criminally suspect from the outset. So was the bullpen.
Neither was the same on September 30th by a long shot.
So with that in mind, let's raise a glass to the following:
Ryan Howard - Mo' Money! Mo' Money!
Chase Utley - The quiet storm
Jimmy Rollins - M-V-P! M-V-P!
Greg Dobbs - A diamond in the rough
Shane Victorino - The Flyin' Hawaiian, a man with a cannon for an arm and wings on his feet!
Aaron Rowand - the throwback. A reincarnation of everything the '93 Phils were all about, good, bad and ugly! Pay him whatever he wants, but keep him in town!
Pat Burrell - Maybe Uncle Chuckles oughtta bench him in April next year.
Carlos Ruiz - Muchas Gracias
Chris Coste - Still living every little boy's dream, every game.
Jayson Werth - "Werth" every penny we give him next year
Michael Bourn - Speed demon
Cole Hamels - The 2008 ace
Kyle Kendrick - The Koolest Kid, just throwing K's
Jamie Moyer - Yoda-like. Slow, he is. Winner, too. Effective, always. Respect, he has earned.
Adam Eaton - Two words: head case. Two more: See a shrink!
Kyle Lohse - Looks good. Might be a keeper.
Freddy Garcia - Hey, Pat Gillick! My shoulder's damaged, I throw like shit and I might give you 5 strong innings and 1 win, too. Send me an e-mail and I'll tell you where to wire the couple of million you can give me.
The bullpen - mostly bull.....
Keep Myers, Gordon, and Romero (and let the poor guy pitch an inning or two!). Ditch the rest and start over.
The next time you're in town, the sushi at Morimoto's is on us:
Tadahiro Iguchi!
Your ERA shouldn't be higher than the number of fingers you have:
Antonio Alfonseca
Leave some money in the coffee can on your way out:
Russell Branyan
Pat LaForest
Rod Barajas
Most of the bullpen
See you on March 31st, 2008!

What a great post, and I couldnt agree more. I can't believe how spot on you were with your descriptions. Utley and Victorino are my favs, but everyone is enjoyable to watch. Jimmy, man he just gives 100% and I will be very disappointed if he doesnt get MVP. If they can just work on their pitching, they could definitely be in the running next year as well. I wasn's disappointed in the least. They accomplished something they hadn't in 14 years. Patience is a virtue.
